Re: Poll: Incoming Player To Have The Best CAREER.

I voted for AJ Klein for 2 reasons....

    1. He plays LB, which is a VERY weak spot on our team, so he will have a long career here at that spot.

    2. He is a flat out stud. People need to remember that he's 6'2"-6'3" and 232 lbs already.... and still is very fast. Go back and watch this kid's videos again. He is a player..... and he will see the field a LOT more than any WR will IMO.

I voted for Jackson but it was close. Reason? I think he is underrated and he plays a position that gets a ton of attention.

I don't want another Todd Blythe. He whined too much and was consistently shut down his last two years.

He was also double and triple covered. He did get the shaft a number of times on plays, he was a great player and a great person.

I'll take a Todd Blythe every year....guy was one of the greatest I've seen at Iowa State at pushing off and getting away with it.

Re: Poll: Incoming Player To Have The Best CAREER.

I LOVE all of our LB's (Klein, Knott and Jackson). I think all 3 will have very, very good careers at Iowa State.

I also think Walter Woods is a hidden gem at DT.

The only guys I have questions about are Capello, Spears and Broomfield. Hopefully they surprise the heck out of me.

Re: Poll: Incoming Player To Have The Best CAREER.

I was tied between Jennert, James White, and Princeton Jackson. Had to go w/Jennert. He seems to have the most "can't miss" physical features for his position.
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

I picked Knott, I agree that any WR coming in has to fight through the depth chart to see the field where as a LB has a shot to see some playing time as soon as he can prove himself competent. That being said I can see Knott being the first of the incoming LBs to see playing time and thus racking up the most career stats.

Re: Poll: Incoming Player To Have The Best CAREER.

Not trying to be "that guy" by ripping on any of the players, and I also think that Jennert has the tools to be really good, but I am curious why there weren't more big name schools coming after this guy. You would think that with that height, and 4.5 speed, some of the bigger name schools would be all over him.

Re: Poll: Incoming Player To Have The Best CAREER.

    I have several....

    Immediate Impact:
Offense - Darius Money Reynolds, i think his combination of size, speed, desire make him a perfect fit to explode in Coach Hermans offense. It will showcase his abilities in the open field.
Defense - David Sims, anytime you have a JUCO safety that was recruited by every major program in the country as a high school player you have the natural ability. Couple that with Coach Ash and i think this kid will start game one and be a 2 year star...plus our safety play year was nothing short of horrible!!!!!

    Long term player:
Offense- Donnie Jennert, has all the physical tools to really explode in this offense. With the current level of talent at the WR position, i see Donnie redshirting and getting his feet under him in college and the weight room and next year really be ready to provide the playmaking capabilities that he has and showcase them outside.
Defense - Jansen Watson, this one was a bit tougher. It was close with Walter Woods who i think is going to be the ball attacking DT we've been waiting for....but, i see Jansen Watson developing into a star in the secondary. I know a lot of people like Jackson or Knott here, but, to me, the area that will be showcased in Burnhams defense is going to be the secondary and the middle linebackers. Because the DL attacks gaps if they go wrong gap the middle linebacker better be able to crunch someone. In the games i saw, it appeared that the secondary was put on an island a lot of times and this really bodes well for Coach Ashs techniques of man to man. I see these two positions as having the most "impact" on the defensive side of the ball. Maybe this year we sign our George Selvie and that changes everything!!!!!!

Re: Poll: Incoming Player To Have The Best CAREER.

I picked Money. Our returning receivers have the potential to be good possession receivers. I think Money could bring the kind of explosiveness we haven't seen in a long time. I see similarities between him and Seneca Wallace. I just hope he's strong enough to take those hits from the Big 12 LBs and DBs.

I've got a solution for you guys:

Take Todd Blythe's frame and talent and mix it with Austin Flynn's work ethic and attitude. That, my friends, is a player I would take hands down ever year...
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

I really think with Burnham's experience and proven track record for developing talent (i.e. George Selvie, Mike Jenkins & even Ty McKenzie to a degree) that our defensive players will have a chance to flourish. I love the LBs we signed and I really think all of them have an excellent shot at cracking the lineup early in their careers. Sims certainly has the background and hopefully he'll be one of those guys that the big schools missed out on.

I can understand why everyone likes Jennert, but he needs a lot of work in the weight room. I think a sleeper on offense is James White. He's another guy who is going to need the RS, but I think he could turn into an excellent 3rd down or scat back or even a kick returner.
