Baylor would not beat Iowa. And I'd take Davis, Wegher, Barrent and Cotton over Texas leftovers (the kids that don't get offers from Texas, TT, A&M, etc) any day.

That helps them a "little" at best. Baylor traditionally sucks most years so don't go thinking they get any better recruits than ISU, because if they do their record sure doesn't show it. The problem was that last year ISU had a horrible d-line and the rest of the D wasn't much better (barring a couple DBs). Had ISU had even an average D they would have won 6 games last year.
Give this new guy a year to get his D scheme implemented and ISU will be much better than Baylor, I promise you.
One of the prime reason Baylor does poorly in the rankings is because they have to play Texas, Oklahoma, Tech, A&M, and Oklahoma State every year. That is just Brutal.

You're funny. You got Iowa's WORST performance of the year, by far, and Iowa still beat you. Did you even watch any of Iowa's other games? I think it's funny to watch ISU fans downplay how good Iowa is every year... you should realize it only makes it sound like you are admitting that your team got beat by a crappy program.
Iowa finished ranked in the top 25 in the nation, BTW... where did Baylor and ISU finish again?
Lastly, no team beat Iowa "easily" last year, so certainly Baylor would not have. But why would anyone expect a bitter ISU fan to use facts or common sense when making a statement such as yours?
Well logic may not be an area you excel at, I understand. The evolution of this thread was ISU vs Baylor in 2009. Some felt ISU had no chance, based on the head-to-head performance last year. DJK brought Iowa into the conversation, as well as why Baylor would beat ISU due to their superior talent. Following this progression, it is natural to compare the difficulty of playing Baylor against playing Iowa. From the head-to-head comparison, Baylor had better talent or at the very least, is a harder match-up for ISU. I don't think Iowa will ever be that hard of match-up for ISU, based on their style of play. If you want to say it was Iowa's worst performance of the year, which Iowa fans do (and most fans in general), it contradicts the dismissal of ISU being able to beat Baylor due to the fact that ISU played horrible that day. In fact, if one is able to employ that logic, ISU fans would be able to expect much better from the team next year, as one could argue in many games ISU could have won if they did not play horrible, specifically against Iowa. It is a slippery slope to use the argument that the game was a toss-up last year only because Iowa played it's worst game.
Living in Big 10 country, I did see most of Iowa's games. This is what I am basing my opinion on; Iowa is one of the better chances for a win next year.
I know many Iowa fans like to champion how Iowa finishes, even when they lose or struggle against ISU, as how Iowa just did not play well in that game- it was actually a mismatch. The only year that may have been true is 2003. Lets look at Iowa's perceived improvement over the year (I do agree ISU did not improve):

Keep in mind that a grade of “C” for a team represents an “average” strength of ALL of Division I, not just BCS teams. An “F” means the team is not in the top-100.
Also keep in mind that the Big-10 is a “consensus” worst ranked BCS conference last year, ranking a remarkable FULL TOUCHDOWN PER TEAM lower than the Big-12 or SEC, and only a field goal per team better than the WAC.
Let me express what that means...last year, the Big-10 conference “as a whole”....was more aligned with a mid-major conference than it was with the better BCS conferences. Seriously!
That is especially true when you look at the Big-10 teams below the top two. According to the Sagarin Rankings.... all but TWO of the Big-10 teams ranked LOWER than SEVEN of the teams in the Big-12. Most of them MUCH lower!
Then throw in that Iowa did not play Ohio State or Michigan....and their conference schedule is deserving of ridicule! (Even with Michigan being down)
The below opponent “grade” is based on home field advantage factored in to each game......
Iowa 2008 schedule…..
C+ Penn State (win)
C+ At Pitt (loss)
C At Michigan State (loss)
D+ At Illinois (loss)
D Northwestern (loss)
D ? At Minnesota (win)
E+ Wisconsin (win)
E+ Purdue (win)
F At Indiana (win)
F Iowa State (win)
F Maine (win)
F Florida International (win)
E+ or lower represents the bottom 20% of ALL Divison I teams (not just BCS)
C or lower represents the bottom 50% of ALL Divison I teams (not just BCS)
From a strength standpoint, Iowa could have been in the bottom 25% in the country and had a winning season.
From an overall record, Iowa played 10 of 12 teams in the BOTTOM HALF of the country (and LOST to four of them).
Based on Penn State’s final ranking, they were not THAT good of a team, and the win was not THAT big of a win.
Iowa’s 2008 schedule was indescribably one of the easiest schedules I have ever seen in over 20 years of doing the Cygarin Ratings on two levels.....
1. The absurdly easy schedule in the “bottom” half that assures a bowl game.
2. The absurdly easy schedule of the “top” half that allows national recognition (Iowa went 1-4 in the top-5 of their schedule)
Iowa did not get “better” in the second half of the season....they played the Sisters of the Poor! Throw out Penn State, and the remaining five teams the played had an average rank of 80th! In other words, typical of playing the "middle ranked" teams in a mid-major conference!
I would love to see Baylor play Iowa in Iowa City. Their stunned faces after we beat them would be priceless.
Can we get all three backs in the game on one play?
If Baylor played in the Big 10 they would be ranked in the top 25 every year as well. The fact that they have to play those South schools is what kills them. Plus at Baylor if you get arrested you get kicked out of school, being it is a religious university. Not so much at Iowa.
