On the Kent State topic......
Umm......yeah......you guys talked this pathetic excuse of a football team up for 2-3 years. Not only on here, on other Clone boards, but on talk shows, on Iowa's websites, etc.... Remember all the smack last year going into the Iowa-ISU game about how pathetic Iowa's first couple of games were? Maine sucked big time, FIU was a high school squad, but not ISU. Your opponents were super awesome. Of course, every opponent ISU faces your fans always have to play the "they're a better team than Iowa's opponents". Like it really matters. Your opponents are always awesome. The Big-12......I mean, come on Clone fans.......every team in the Big-12 is Top 10 (yeah, I'm still trying to figure out your math on that one.......12 teams all amongst the 10 best....) and every team in the Big-10 sucks. Same with out of conference. Your opponents never suck. Your 1-AA opponent is always better than our 1-AA opponent and your other game(s) against bottom feeding mid-major teams are always better than our bottom feeding mid-major teams.
However, to sit here and claim you guys didn't talk up Kent State (Yeah, I know......not all of you- but A LOT of you) is such a frickin' joke it's not even funny. You guys are either dumb, lying, have short memories, or just can't admit when you've had your arse handed to you by a Hawkeye fan (which, despite what you guys say, happens pretty much every time a Hawk fans steps up to you on here. When your only responses are "go back to your own site" or "this is a Cyclone board, Squawk" you know damn well dude just took you out back and gave you a whoopin'- and that occurs basically any time a Clone fan tries arguing with his superior errrrrr a Hawk fan.
Now, as for Kent State. I'm going to give you Clone fans one shot to say "okay, fine, we did overhype them." or I'm going to expose the crap out of you people by providing a couple of links I found to threads on this site going on and on and on and on about how awesome the Kent State QB/RB combo was and how Iowa's QB/RB combo of Stanzi/Greene has nothing on them. Seriously, either man up and just admit that ClimbIowa was right or I start posting links and all of you fools will walk away with your heads in your tails much like typically happens when Iowa fan brings FACTS into an argument with a Clone fan.
So have at it.......either fess up and say you were wrong or I make fools of you.
"OH NOZ, OH NOZ, OMG, ANOTHER SQUAWK ON OUR BOARDS, OH NOZ!!"
My whole response was not just about the Kent State team, and whether they are a good team or not, but it was the fact that ClimbIowa came on here just trying to stir up trouble by saying how weak the ISU schedule was, when there was really no one debating that, except to say that they did not agree with the author of the blog in rating the schedule below some other schools. In fact, the original poster was actually complimenting Iowa in a way by saying apparently the author was not thinking Iowa was going to be very good. Then CI jumps in for no apparent reason with some nonsense about Kent State and how all Cyclone fans thought they were pretty strong. I am sure some Cyclone fans were claiming that at one time, but I had not seen that in this thread.
So glad that we Cyclone fans can provide you such comic relief. I get that too when I go to the Iowa boards and read the annual projections of BCS bowls and national championship runs that the Hawks are going to make.......again. Or I read a couple of years ago about the great hire they made when they hired a certain bb coach from Butler that was going to once again lead them back to the glory days of Iowa basketball. Trust me, there is plenty of comic relief provided by Hawk fans too.
I think it is hilarious that you come on here and make a big statement about how Cyclone fans somehow claimed that all 12 Big 12 teams were top 10 teams, and how that is so funny since the math does not work. (By the way, I would love to see a link to any Cyclone fan post that made that claim. Not saying it didn't happen, just would like to actually see this.) You do see the irony of a fan of a Big 10 team making any reference to math and counting though don't you? I mean, tell us all again, how many schools are actually in your conference, and what is the conference name? Will eagerly await your response.

I think that you and ClimbIowa have made enough of a name for yourself. You really add nothing to the site and do nothing more than hijack threads and them claim, through invented logic and arguments, that you are justified. I REALLY think that you 2 should be banned. You have proven your ambition on this site (and it only took 4 posts for you) and it is not generally value added to allow you continued access.

you read 3 pages before skipping to the end. That was brave of you. I got done with the first and got curious as to how it got so many pages and skipped to the end. Doesn't look like much was missed in between.

If anything, it's an argument that we're going to be that bad - not that Kent St is going to be that good - especially not the "quality opponent" that you claim that we think they are.
Which reminds me of something - when was the last time Iowa left the comfy confines of Kinnick Stadium to play a non-BCS school on the road, MAC Conference or otherwise?
Miami University in 2002; some guy named Ben Roethlisberger was their QB. What does that have to with anything, anyway? It'll be a hell of a long time before Iowa does it again, I know that.
Re: ESPN blog ranks ISU's non-con 11th toughest in B12
If I may state the obvious, almost no one schedules a tough non-con anymore. There is little incentive if you are a BCS school due to the advantages inherent in the system. 4-0 versus cupcakes is usually better than 3-1 against good competition and almost always better than 2-2, regardless the opponent. I applaud teams like Purdue and Oklahoma for scheduling good teams or Okie State for putting Georgia on the schedule. However, unless they win, they will be punished for doing so. One of the few groups of teams that really benefit from putting tough teams on the schedule are marginal top 25 teams that would benefit from a big win, but even they could get hurt if their season doesn't materialize and they end up 6-6. ISU is not really in a position to schedule a good opponent (until they are significantly better) as they already have Iowa on the schedule, and the converse is true for the Hawks. Too high of a risk for the potential reward.
In summary, this argument is silly, as am I for spending the time to write it.

Good post. Most teams schedule a weak non-conference to get their team ready for the conference season. Also, they play those teams to bring in subs when they get ahead to give those guys playing time. I do give credit also to those teams like Purdue, Illinois, Georgia for scheduling the tough games. If they lose, yeah, it's tough. but if you win that tough game, you gain the notice of the nation, and the polls. And it gives your team a great deal of confidence heading into the conference slate.
Re: ESPN blog ranks ISU's non-con 11th toughest in B12
Iowa fans should be more eerked at that than ISU fans, apparently they don't give them much credit in at least boosting our non-conf a little more. KU's is soft as usual.

Surprised you can even see our posts from that nice little tower you've sat yourself in.

The Northern Illinois game in 2007 was technically a "road game" although it was played in Soldier Field in Chicago. I believe Iowa is looking at doing something similar again in the future.
Seems like more BCS conference teams are having to play a road game at a MAC school in order to get 1 or 2 home games. Missouri is playing at Miami in the future. K-State played at Marshall a couple years back.
