Rhoads kicks Wallace Franklin off team

Re: Rhoads kicks Wallace Franklin off team
This ought to turn into an epic thread after all the Hawkeye banter the last few days.

I can see where this thread is headed already......

Good move, once, twice, three times a loser

Re: Rhoads kicks Wallace Franklin off team
Well, yeah... 3 strikes and you're out. Seems pretty standard/typical, and not any different than any other program in the state.

Re: Rhoads kicks Wallace Franklin off team
Hey, at least it's one guy and not the equivalence of an entire football team.

Re: Rhoads kicks Wallace Franklin off team
I don't see why he wasn't suspended from April thru June. You know, when the important games are played. That seems to the approach from one program in the state.

Re: Rhoads kicks Wallace Franklin off team
Wasn't one of Franklin's problems assault? He should have been kicked off a long time ago and this doesn't really compare to the JF thing at all. It's worse.

Re: Rhoads kicks Wallace Franklin off team
Yep, same exact thing.
ISU player kicked off the team for being "observed slumping and leaning against a building in the 100 block of Welch Avenue. The incident report stated Franklin to be somewhat unresponsive, exhibited signs of being intoxicated, and that he admitted having consumed alcohol."
The other team still has to make up it's mind on one group of players that were drunk and destroying property while trying to start a fight with a cop and another player that punched a cabbie. Totally equivalent.........

The article only states "interference with official acts", which I think generally means he didn't cooperate with the cops.
But I don't know - it doesn't say antyhing about assault

The blame there lies with Chizik, not Rhoads. Chizik made the decision to let Franklin stay on the team after the first two arrests and there weren't any incidents until now during Rhoads' time in Ames, so no real reason for Rhoads to take action. He went with the former coach's judgement that it wouldn't be an issue any more, and when it became an issue took prompt action.

Re: Rhoads kicks Wallace Franklin off team
Wow - the lastest arrest was 2:25 this morning, and he's out by brunch.

Re: Rhoads kicks Wallace Franklin off team
I'll be more impressed when he has to take action on one of his recruits that isn't a backup player that no one really cares about.
