Why Iowa beating UNI may not be such a bad thing for ISU

As everyone knows, Iowa State and Iowa play on September 12. This is game two for both schools and both schools play FCS (D1AA) schools in week one. Although many people want UNI to upset Iowa, it would require Iowa to majorly overlook UNI to the next game against Iowa State in order for this to happen. We, as Cyclone fans, obviously do not want them looking forward to Iowa State, rather, we want them to kill UNI, get ultra-cocky, in order for the Paul Rhoads Iowa State Cyclones to come from behind and kick their *****. I'm not advocating for anyone to root for Iowa against UNI, but I'm urging people to not look negatively upon it when Iowa destroys the Purple People from up North. If anyone remembers 2007, Iowa fans got pretty excited after beating Syracuse 35-0. We all remember the glorious events of the week that followed.

I was that game; I didn't get that excited. Syracuse was terrible, and as it turned out, Iowa wasn't that good either.

I would also say that the outcomes of Iowa and Iowa State's first game will have nothing to do with how the Iowa/ISU plays out.

All kidding aside, the Hawkeye football season will hinge on one thing and one thing only............whether the Johnson County Courthouse can postpone all of the trial dates until mid-January or later.

It's too close to call right now.

I see your point, but UNI IS a real threat. I believe they have four guys on that squad that everyone expects to be drafted. Coupla first game mistakes and Iowa can drop that one. If the spread is > 7, give me the points and UNI.

There won't be point spread; there never is for 1-A/1-AA games.

Pretty sure this is true. Would like to see one from time to time though.

I remember we lost to UNI in 2007... and then when we beat Iowa the next weekend all they could say was "oh yeah, well you lost to UNI!"

The correct response to that is, "Well that's because UNI has a better team."

OK, but UNI really IS a threat to win that game. They have a good O line. One of their studs is a center and another is an ISU legacy at tackle (brother of Cyclone Tackle Marcel "Cell Block" Howard). They will give Iowa all they want.

Turn in your fan card - the correct answer is: ISU 15, Iowa 13 - courtesy of 5 field goals from Shaggy.

I guess I didn't know that fans had such a key part in weekly preparation. I'll write that down that Kirk keeps one ear to the ground to see how the fan base is reacting so he knows how to prepare for the next game.
