What is the visitors section?
My wife and I have been working at making it to all of the Big 12 stadiums and this year we will be coming up to ISU.
I have a few questions that maybe you all would be so kind as to help.
1. What section is the "Visitors" section? I'm trying to price compare to see if I can find seats in or close to that section cheaper than I can buy them from OSU's ticket office.
2. Is tailgating big at ISU? Are people generally friendly to opposition fans that aren't mouthy and just up to enjoy the people and the game?
3. Is it hard/expensive to get a hotel in town or are there smarter/better options for somebody coming from Oklahoma.
I'm looking forward to it. This year we plan on making it to ISU, aTm, and Baylor. That will leave us only with K-State, Tech (yuck, horrible fans), and OU (ditto Tech) left to visit.

Sections 15 and 16.. http://www.ticketsolutions.com/venue...tadium_ALL.gif
Have fun on your trip to Ames. We dont always put a great football product out on the field, but you will have a hard time finding a better place for a morning tailgate.
ISU fans tend to enjoy OSU fans. Should be for a fun game.
Ive been to Baylor, Nebraska, KSU, KU, Mizzou, CU and I think that our pregame atmosphere beats all of them. Hopefully that isn't just my bias.

dwh 1.) Section 15 & 16 lower level. H&J upper level
2.) Tailgating is HUGE. You'll have a great time.
3.) Hotel shouldn't be a problem. Move to DSM if it is as DSM only 30-40min away.

We might suck at football, but by God we know how to party before the game. Our tailgating is arguably tops in the conference.

Tons of hotels in Ames and Des Moines (30 miles south of Ames) to utilize.

Most of the time tailgating is bigger than the actual game. We're hoping to change that soon though, by improving our games, not making the tailgating worse!
You will find 99% of people very welcoming and friendly to you, as long as you are not being a dick. We already know you're going to kick our *****, you don't have to rub it in before or after the game.

Re: What is the visitors section?
I'm somewhat obligated to cheer for OSU, as my mom is an alum. Looks like everyone already answered your questions, so I just wanted to wish you luck, and bring something warm to wear for the game! Sometimes, Fall weather will extend into late October for Iowa, but more than likely, an early November game in Iowa means chilly weather for all. Rarely deters us from our tailgating, but still somewhat of a decrease in quality from our August/September tailgates.
Hope you enjoy your time up here; we're generally good fans, don't let a few drunken idiots ruin your perception of us. -
Re: What is the visitors section?
Finding a hotel in Ames for a gameday can be a bit of a problem. Branch out to Ankeny or Des Moines if it is.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -

Re: What is the visitors section?
You'll have alot of fun tailgating trust me.
Hotel like people have said before i'd probably branch down to ankeny or Des moines itll probably be a little bit cheaper
Cyclone Fans are the nicest fans you'll meet in the conference as long as you arent being a dick about beating us, we already know that if we beat OSU itll be a pretty big miracle, so just dont rub it in to us ha.
You'll have a good time up here and hopefully we'll make it a game this year.

You'll find that ISU fans are good at 2 things. Tailgating and ******** about Iowa.
