You can't help but look at Iowa State's offense and say, "hey, we have a shot to go bowling." But then look at the defense and think, I'd trade our defense for UNI's straight up. A little sarcasism, but not too much. If Kansas is way overrated then the North is going to be crap-tacular this year.

No one know over-expectations better than Jack Trice season ticket holders. Hope is the worst thing you can give the fans.

Re: Deace picks us to Shreveport...
Actually KU started 2 freshman tackles last year on the O-line. They ended up our best linemen by the end of the year. The O-line should be better than last year - at least bigger, stronger and faster, we'll see how they play together. Every spot actually should be better except the linebackers against the run. KU lost some really good run stopping linebackers but they were very poor against the pass and it looks like KU may only play two linebackers this year to go against all the spread offenses in the conference so the linebacker loss might not be that bad. Since KU isn't ranked in any publications I don't think they are overrated. I just think that the North has to prove they can play with the big boys to earn some respect and for years now they haven't been able to do that.

Re: Deace picks us to Shreveport...
Okay, time to bring some much needed facts and perspective to this thread. The North will be a shadow of the South, yet again. And Shreveport is a dump.
... That said I have no problems with picking off some teams on a down year and making a roadtrip to the greater Shreveport-Bossier City area for a little extra college football fun this year.

Re: Deace picks us to Shreveport...
I think Shreveport would be an excellent goal for ISU this year. Quite possibly out of reach, but an excellent goal nonetheless.

Re: Deace picks us to Shreveport...
If we make it to Shreveport, EVERYONE should be happy, as it shows good things for the future, will ease some recruiting issues and put ISU back on the road to recovery.

Re: Deace picks us to Shreveport...
The North has been down for a long time. The South has beaten the North by a combined score of 171 to 30 over the past 4 years in the Big 12 Championship game. All the North can do is keep raising as much money as possible, keep building new facilities and hope we can catch up with the South enough to make it competitive. But things are a lot easier if you don't have to go very far to recruit players and that's the case for the South.

I'll be thrilled if we make a bowl this year. That said, I'm less than thrilled about the prospects of Shreveport yet again.

Shreveport would feel like Pasadena after the last 3 years.

Re: Deace picks us to Shreveport...
Between the trifecta of CPR, and our OC and DC, our chances improve dramatically this year. I say 6-6 is easily in reach and up to 8-4 is possible.
We have a lot of experience and should have an explosive offense. We just need a moderate improvement in the defense and we are going to be an exciting team that wins. Go CYCLONES!!!!
