Obviously I like the positive publicity, but I can't say I agree. It's very possible, and the more you look at our schedule, it's obvious that this is one of the weakest we've seen in a LONG time. That said, our defense still sucks badly. I can see us at 6-6, but I just can't pick it or expect it. It almost seems like it might, maybe have been a ratings grab. I don't know. Miller even said it's a coin flip, which surprised me.

To go 6-6 I think we'd need to beat Iowa (we have a good shot in that game) and NOT let down against Kent the next weekend. Winning that Kent State game could do a lot for the team, but until we actually win a road game, I'd have a hard time predicting it or picturing it.

A trip to Shreveport at UK would make my Christmas.

I'd love a bowl game, but I'd still be happy with the season if we had the following:

-Go 3-1 non conference
-Win a big 12 game
-Win a road game
-Have a 1000 yard rusher

It would also be nice to win a Big12 road game, but any road game would be a plus.

I would say I would be happy with an Alamo or Holiday bowl.
A 5 Seed in the NCAA tourney for the Men
A 3 Seed for the Women
A Final 4 appearance for the Volleyball team.
National Championship in Wrestling.

Auburn finishes 5-7
Syracuse goes to the NIT
and Penn State loses its Wrestling program due NCAA infractions.
I got my bar set pretty high...But its summer. I wonder what that would do to the fanbase if the above did happen next year?

All joking aside....I really hope they can put a football team together this year that wins 7-8 games, because I think we will be much better 2 years from now, but the schedule won't allow us to show it.

Rice had two guys go for 800 last year. I would expect to see 3-4 guys around or over 500 yards this season. I'll take that over 1 guy w/1000 yards.

Last year this team should have had 4-5 wins (UNLV, Colorado, and KU). This year the talent is better, the schedule is easier and ISU has better coaches!

6-7 wins.

ISU should beat: NDSU, @ Kent State, Army, Kansas State

ISU could beat: Iowa, Baylor, @ A&M, Colorado, @ Mizzou

ISU will lose to: @ Kansas, @ Nebraska, OSU

So, to go bowling for sure ISU needs to take care of business with the 3 cupcakes, beat KState and win 3 out of the 5 in the could win category. They might get to 6 but I just don't see a bowl this season.

If we are fortunate enough to make a bowl with a first year coach, new coaching staff, new offense, and new defense, it will be a great accomplishment. If that happens and any person whines about playing in Shreveport, I think that should qualify said individual(s) for a public flogging.

(just trying to get ahead of this).

We weren't terribly far off last year. We lost at Colorado, at UNLV, vs Kansas, and at Kansas State all very close. Brutal record? Yes. Were we close in a bunch of games? You bet.

Just because we were close in some games last year doesn't mean we won't have teams stomp on our throat this year.

I hope I'm wrong, but I just can't see it happening this year. Develop, get better throughout the season, end on a high note, and surprise people next year. This scenario would make the kool-aid next year much more enticing for me.
