Kansas State - 80% Win Even if this were accurate (no), it adds up to a 36% chance we are undefeated heading into Lawrence. "Strong chance" implies something at least over a 50% chance.

Re: KU game: Homecoming crashers!
I didn't think the KU fans were bad at all when I was there two years ago. If anything, the lady sitting next to me asked if we could just get along for the game and be friendly, like she was expecting me to punch her if we scored a TD or something.
It's too bad we couldn't plant that flag at the 50 yard line......

North Dakota State - 99% Win
Kent State - 75% Win (remember this is on the road)
Iowa - 50% Win
Army - 90% Win
KSU - 50% Win
I could easily see us 4-1 or 3-2. I'd love 5-0, but you can't say there's a strong possibility of anything in regards to our football program. We won exactly 0 conference games last year, and I think it's been since 2005 that we've won a game away from home...

Not saying it would've happened, but ESPN was in contact with us.

Re: KU game: Homecoming crashers!
I will be in Lawrence, in the stadium, in the student section, down front wearing Gold. Not very front row but like row 15 or 20 (I have to get my drink on before the game).
As a current Lawrence resident the football fans in town are way different from the basketball. No tradition in football means they haven't had time to accumulate the arrogance that the basketball program's fans have.

Re: KU game: Homecoming crashers!
I view the Kent State game as about a 25% win. Three reasons:
1) The road streak. Until we win a road game, I can't see us doing it. Even if we were playing Waldorf.
2) They suck. They just lost their best player to graduation (Edelman). I just get this feeling that the worse the competition, the more likely we are to stub our toe.
3) There will be no one there. According to Phil Steele, Kent had the absolute worst attendance in FBS. They only had 2400 people there for the Northern Illinois game.
These things combine to form the perfect storm for what is a very embarassing loss. Both Mac and Chiz loved to lose games like this. I can't find a single reason on paper that we lose this game, and that's why it scares the **** out of me. Just a bad, bad gut feeling that my radio is going to get abused that night...

A lot of factors have entered into why ISU has not had success on the road. But each year is different. For example, what ISU did two years ago -- good or bad -- has no bearing on what this year's team will do. I would think the coaches would use lack of success on the road as a motivational tool -- "They say we can't win because we've never won on the road, but I'm telling you right now, I think those guys are full of ****. I believe you guys can go out there and win, all the assistant coaches believe you can go out there and win, and I think all of you believe you can win this game." That's my pretty bad impression of a Knute Rockne speech, but I think you get the point. -

1) At some point, Iowa State will win an away game. Why not this year with this game?
2) I don't know if I have an answer to that.
3) Pressure is off that way. I know, pretty lame.
As to the Mac and Chiz reference, I thinik Rhoads and staff brings in an entirely different philosophy.
I'm probably all wet, but I think this will be a road game ISU wins. I don't know about winning at KU, but winning ANY road game will give the players the confidence.
BTW, the best conference road game ISU has played in recent memory (and in my opinion) was in 1999 at Columbia, Mo. Iowa State made a stand at the 5-yard line (I can't remember who broke up the pass in the endzone for ISU). D. Davis had over 100 yards rushing, and Missouri scored the first two touchdowns of the game.
Great comeback.

Great comeback. It's a road game ISU SHOULD win, but I've seen too much playing down to the competition, and it almost seems like the more unlikely the loss is on paper, the more likely it is in real life. I should clarify that my post was not based on ANYTHING logical, but rather my gut feeling. For the record, some of the road meltdowns we've had over the years completely defy logic.
What this all comes down to, is that I'm still livid about the '07 Toledo game. My girlfriend and I were going somewhere, listening to the game, and w/an 11 pt lead and 5 minutes left, I was as nervous as a dog ******** razor blades. She goes "there is no way they can possibly lose." My response, "you obviously haven't been following ISU football for very long".
