Arnaud and Frere pretty candid about Rhoads vs. Chizik
Sounds like Nate Frere and Austen Arnaud are pretty happy with the new regime. Frere takes a few shots at Chizik, and says Rhoads is just like Coach Mac, which is fine with him. 41-51 Record in CF Mafia. The most games played and wins by any player in Cyclone Fanatic History. Yes, I'm a nerd. -

I would like nothing more than to see our players perform under Rhoads' coaching what they couldn't do with Chizik at the helm. It sounds like they have the same mentality.

Some other good stuff from media day -- here is a tweet from Joe Schad (ESPN) today:
"It is obvious that ISU's Paul Rhoads loves his school as much as any coach I've interviewed yet."

Good story. Lets hope Rhoads can coach better than both of them come game day.

Nice, little article. It was classy how Frere didn't say anything abour chizik, and just said what coach rhodes is doing better.

It would be nice to see ISU play a certain SEC team in a bowl game this year.

When a coach has that kind of passion about the school and his players then the players will do whatever it takes to make that coach proud. They start doing an extra set of reps in the weight room, run a few extra drills, run a few extra laps.... not because they have to but because they believe that through this coach and the extra effort that they can get the job done.
Sounds more and more like Chizdick created a pretty apathetic attitude that stuck with the players and they adopted it. Now the players have a guy that they will run through walls for again. This is a very positive sign heading into the fall.

I find these posts to always be comical.
Let me give you an analogy...girlfriend #1 dumps you and you start going out with girlfriend #2...it is quite likely that you will not have much good to say about #1 and you will speak glowingly of #2. I am making no judgments on either coach here...just observing that this type of reaction is human nature and to be expected.
I think it is great that Rhoads apparently loves ISU. But the bottom line for me with any coach is that they prove they can win and will give us competitive teams (in FB we should be striving to make the Big 12 Championship game every few years) on a regular basis.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

True, it is being romanticized quite a bit. However, no one is saying PR's love for ISU will change how they view his W-L record; your bottom line is the same as most on CF. Imo, what is being said, is they have a bottom line of W-L's, and a coach that is passionate about being at his current job is more likely to meet that bottom line. I think we have all been in working situation where the boss did not present himself as passionate about the task at hand, and how that can negativly impact the quality of that task.
Some may even go as far to say, DMac vs Chizik, for example.

Some may even go as far to say, DMac vs Chizik, for example. They might not be saying it, but we certainly have a clear example with our current MBB coach that seems to indicate that there are a significant number of Cyclone fans that will give credit to the coach for being a "good guy" and "wanting it more than anyone" and excuse away the lack of success from a W-L perspective as long as they perceive him to be "loyal".

Another negative post about ISU? Shocking...
Did you even read the article? It talks about how the players relate and get along with Rhoads better than Chizik. He said some players were walking on eggshells around Chizik but it isn't that way with Rhoads. So your girlfriend #1 and #2 analogy doesn't even come close to applying here.
