OLine size

After reviewing the latest pre-fall depth chart I was shocked to see how large our Oline is. I'm not sure I've ever seen a front 5 weigh so much, I'd like to see how this compares across the country.

We have have 3 starters above 330lbs (not counting Hicks) Are these accurate weights? If so, how nimble and athletic can these guys be?? I firmly believe the success of a football team relies heavily on the Offense Line. I like the size and strength these guys appear to have but hopefully the trade off isn't immobility. I also love the fact that we have 5 guys returning with starting experience. Any thoughts?

I can tell you Spears, Tuftee, and KO are legit from knowing all 3. KO is just a monster, yet he's not really fat. His arms are absolutely ridiculous. Tuftee still has a lot of potential to put muscle on his frame, as does Spears.

If KO is "not really fat", that is quite scary. That is a large man.

If we were not going to an up-tempo, wide splits spread, I would not be too concerned, but as it is...
It is odd now that ISU has moved to the spread they finally have an Oline that DMac would have wanted.

Tech for the last however many years has had one of the biggest OLines in the country. Those guys are beastly.

If we have beastly and mobile Olinemen like Tech I will be pleasantly surprised. Does anyone know how TT's no huddle pace compares to Rice's?

but mobility is the key.

Due to splits being so wide they are often isolated and forced to pick up Lbers in almost an open-field like capacity. I have no doubts these guys will be able to road grade up the middle when needed, but with the new offense hopefully their agility and footwork is up to snuff.

Any ideas on the bench/squat #'s from these guys? I saw an interested thread on a K-state board that made me curious.

The biggest concern would be conditioning if our offense gets fast paced.
Watching our QB's and RB's run into a brick wall trying to run the ball for a yard or two b/w the tackles for a TD or first down is torcher. Maybe the extra bulk will get the push we've lacked for years.

While I don't doubt we have some good-sized guys on our O-line, I think their heights/weights listed are probably, oh, on the generous end.

My husband was talking about it this weekend. When he played football in college (DIII) he laughed about how his first year he was listed as 6'4" and 270ish, which was accurate. By his senior year, he was listed as 6'7" and 310. He's a big guy, but not *that* big.

What gets me is that, ver the Spring, Bliel said that he wanted them to LOSE weight. Okay, so Haughton may be down from 350 or so, but Hicks looks up from 325.
