Affordable Family Option - FB

There is a family-friendly option for families with younger children to make attending Cyclone sports cheaper...listen up! Some of my friends with kids purchase Lil' Clone Club memberships (I think its 8th grade and younger) because the kids get FREE admission to football, WBB, and select MBB. Even if you use it a few times for each sport, definitely pays for itself. It's only $50 per kid and to top it off, a cute t-shirt and another on-field tunnel during this year's Army game. Don't crab unless you know all the options.

There was also a special Lil' Cyclone event at Perfect Games last weekend that was free to all members.

Under 2 get in free to football, as well. Lil Clone members "seating" is on the hills, but for now, my son (21 mo.) sits on someone's lap.

Hillside seating is fine when they are old enough. But, you can't put a 3 yo on the hillside alone. And I can't put a 3 yo on my lap anymore during a game.

I see this as a really good investment if your kid is 9+.

Right now, I just get a sitter.

My kids are 11yrs and 9yrs this year and we have always taken them to our seats and if there is room then they stay if not I take one and hubby takes one and we take half game on hill and half in seat .. Never ever have I sat on the hill always have room somewhere close to us in our seats?

Be aware, "Select" MBB means non-conference and I believe no Iowa. We had it last year so Iowa was not an option anyway. If you are into WBB then its a good deal. We took out son to a couple of games last year and he had a blast.

Good luck with a 21 month old at a fb game. I know there is no way I would take my 3 yo or my 18 month old to a FB game. I know people do it and more power to them and it is great that they do, but I just dont know how they can get anything out of the game.

yea i had to love the what i called the exorcist kid a couple seasons back he probably was maybe 3/4? i dunno and that kid freakin yacked at nearly every game he was at. i'm thinkin after the first couple times i would have had somebody watch him while i went to the game instead of bringin him along to throw up everywhere.

Because a babysitter for a game day (tailgate, game, driving, etc.) can cost about $80.

Kids under 2 are easier to bring than 3-5. Kids under 2 are somewhat OK sitting on a lap and may even nap. 3 yo wants to run around.

We have 2 boys 9 and 3. They have pretty much grown up going to games. The nine year old knows more facts about the players than I do. We have been pretty lucky since they are fairly quiet kids. The crowd noise normally mutes out the occasional crying. When they are smaller they normally look for Cy and watch the crowd for about a quarter and then fall asleep. My wife and I take turns holding. The worst is on a really hot day. Little kids tend to sweat like crazy when they sleep. We do buy 3 season ticket so we aren't trying to squeeze them in but normally it isn't much of a concern since someone in our row normally doesn't show. The only negative we ever experienced was for 2-3 years we had two guys about 3 rows behind us that were constantly dropping f-bombs. For the most part Section 12 is rather calm. We normally tailgate in the RV area with a group that ranges from 20-40. It is a good mix of ages and the kids normally have a blast throwing the football around and other games while mom and dad enjoy a few cocktails. My only advise would be if you have small kids is to tailgate and sit as far away from the students as possible unless you want your kids swearing like a sailor. I'm not trying to put the students down because I was right there 15 years ago doing a lot of stupid stuff.
