    Re: Mike Marry Grayshirt

That is how ISU got Brayden Burris he was going to sign with KSU but right before signing day they asked him to take a greyshirt so he signed with ISU. What is happening with Marry is worse because they waited until pratice started to ask him to grey shirt.

Seems to me that the article in the QCTimes when he committed said that he was going to grayshirt, but I could be wrong.

Besides which, Kurtis Taylor has already been presented as another example of a grayshirt success story. Personally, I'm not sure that I agree with the idea of mortgaging one of next year's schollies, but it's not my decision.

perhaps this is the "possible transfer" in the thread over at CR a few pages back. would make sense, it seems we had a pretty good shot at him until he decided to go elsewhere. we could definitely use him.

This is what I was hoping, but I'm not banking on anything. Word on the Ole Miss free board is that he knew a grayshirt was coming when he signed but that is speculation. If he didn't know, then I could see him wanting to look elsewhere. He would be another great addition to our increasingly upgraded LB core.

At Ole Miss he'd have to pay his own way this first semester, and the earliest he would possibly see the football field would be next year.

At ISU, he'd probably immediately be in the two deeps and would see action this year if he could transfer without having to sit out a year? Plus he would be on a full ride, and would be playing with his former HS teammate and god-brother? Leonard Johnson as well.

I still, to this day, could not figure out how ISU lost him to Ole Miss? Everything seemed to point in our direction.... except the weather maybe?

    Re: Mike Marry Grayshirt

Any way you look at it, Ole Miss offered Marry a scholarship and did not hold up their end of the deal - not for Fall 2009, anyway.

Marry is getting screwed, and he sounds like a smart enough kid to realize it and take his life in to his own hands. His reported final two choices were us and Ole Miss, so hopefully he makes his way to Ames. We would love to have a young man of his talent and intelligence, and there appears to be a great opportunity for early PT at LB.

Agree. Wonder when he first was told by Nutt that he would have to accept a grayshirt? That would be a kick in the nuts to have your plans trashed this late in the year. Knowing the SEC, Nutt probably strung him along all summer waiting for the other recruits to qualify, while knowing that he might have to talk a kid or two into grayshirting right before the season. Sucks to pull that crap on an out-of-state kid.

Marry obviously wanted (wants) to go to Ole Miss, but having to pay his own way for a semester while sitting out of team activities might cause him to give ISU a shot to add him on scholly immediately.

tuftee was injured. that is why he went to a local juco one year. by the time tuftee is a jr and senior,i expect him to be quite a contributor if he remains injury free.could develop into a fine center. we need the depth there.when tuftee was in one of the summer camps he really stood out for his athletic ability.
i hope that he stays healthy and gets to play some this year.

Well... I found this on the Ole Miss website. It sounds like all the freshmen reported Saturday, but I don't see Mike Marry on the list? He's also not listed on the roster either?
