How many players did GC redshirt last year?

Just wonder how many redshirted and of those guys, is there anyone that can help this year?

It seemed like nobody, but I'm sure there were some.

As far as who can help this year that wasn't here last year.... I'd put AJ Klein at the top of the list right now. Sounds like he's doing really well, and he's at a position of need.

Money Reynolds will play a lot also. And David Sims will start most likely.

The one I am looking forward to the most is Jeremiah Schwartz. Also Tiller but I don't think he will play until we are out of bowl contention or we are getting beat real bad.

Schwartz, Tiller, Burris, Hammerschmidt, Tuftee, Magitt, Lanig, Hamlin, Land (gone), Linder (gone), Bo (required), Range, McDonough,

Freshman/Newcomers that played:
Haughton, Hicks, Bykowski, Sed, Darks, LJ, Benton, Ferguson, Ruemp., Guyer, Mahoney.

Well, Hammerschmidt is listed on the roster as a redshirt freshman, so I suspect not.

I do know that the old staff said that he runs even better than Collin Franklin, so I suspect that he might not switch to tackle.

That is some high praise. Any idea how he compares to Bykowski?

I didn't hear them compare the two, but my impression from last season was that Carter doesn't run quite as well as Franklin does. I could be wrong, of course.

i don't think tuftee was on campus when chizzlwdick was there. didn't tuftee go the juco route for a semester because he has injured his knee-.i think tuftee shoewd up afTer coach CPR WAS HERE.I COULD BE WRONG BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN WRONG B4. S orry for the shouting grammar police.

Tuftee was a greyshirt. He still has 5 years of eligibility.

I know he can't apply until after the season but does anyone have an opinion on Kennard Banks getting a medical redshirt for an extra year? I can't recall that ever being done for a juco transfer.

Of the scholarship players, here are some of the redshirts:

Tiller, QB
Laing, DL
Maggitt, DL
McDonough, DL
Burris, OL
Range, WR
Schwartz, RB
Hamlin, LB
Hammerschmidt, TE

So there could still be some good talent in the pipeline in addition to the 11 freshman that played last year. IMHO, Chiz sucked overall, but I do think he was a good recruiter and this 2008 class could end up being pretty impressive.

I would think Laing and Maggitt have the best opportunity to contribute, and hope to see Tiller get some quality game time and finish off games in the victory formation.
