Re: Cyclone offense rated behind Iowa, Auburn
Iowa at 17th is an absolute joke. Every time CFN "opens their mouth" they lose another shred of credibility...

That's because Iowa does a good job of using their tight ends effectively into their offense. Lately, ISU throws the ball to a tight end about as many times as I visit the Hawkeye Nation Web site -- which is hardly ever.

Sorry about my last post. I should have read further down. Better posters than I have made better points -- including TarHeelHawk.

It might be a bit inflated, but I'd hardly call it a joke based on some of the stats thrown around on this thread. Did you read it? Count me as another one who didn't realize that ISU was using their tight ends as much. A good tight end who can catch the ball in traffic is worth his weight in gold.

Re: Cyclone offense rated behind Iowa, Auburn
One way to be sure we don't get overlooked in "rankings" in the future.
WIN SOME DAMN GAMES!!
You see how well that works for the Hawks. How about we try that strategy for a change instead of bemoaning where they end up in various rankings?

Re: Cyclone offense rated behind Iowa, Auburn
this is dumb. iowa's offense is horrendous, and has been since the capital one bowl game. isu may lose most games, but they can at least put up 40 or 50 points against a lot of teams. iowa can only score at will against the no name teams they play the 1st couple games a season. as for auburn, "FU** auburn!

That must be why Iowa averaged more points per game than ISU the last three seasons, right?

Re: Cyclone offense rated behind Iowa, Auburn
Iowa's O-line is the reason we are rated that high on offense. RB's don't really matter when they aren't getting touched until 5 yards downfield. It's the Freddie Russel effect. 17th does seem pretty high though, I would guess more around the 35 range fits better.

Iowa's offense will be good for 5 reasons:
Left Tackle
Left Guard
Center
Right Guard
Right Tackle
Put any D1 running back behind that offensive line and he looks as good as Shonn Greene did last year.
I hate to argue for the Hawks but IMO this is why they are ranked so high.

So yeah when you look at it like that..... they dont return much. We did throw the ball 120 times more than Iowa did last yaer. I kept thinking Brodell is back, which made Iowa clearly the leader in returning WRs. When you look at career production, Iowa's group of WR/TEs has better production than ISU's WR/TEs. Not that that means much ... however, it is a fact.

But as you can see, heitclone AND TarHeelHawk both made good points.
