Re: paul rhodes already better than danny mac??!!
Coach Mac did something that very few coaches could do with far less resources. Mac and CPR should not be able to be compared because they are not coaching on the same level "playing field". Yes the turf is the same but the facilities are different, the expectations are higher now, coaches salaries are about double, and Mac inherited a team that couldn't compete in the Texas high schools. So yes your buddy is wrong.

The same was said about Chizik, and some were even saying it deep into year 2.

Re: paul rhodes already better than danny mac??!!
I think people want Rhoads to be better than Mac, but for cripes sakes we haven't seen him coach one game yet.
Hope he is, but a lot of ground has to be covered before we pass these kind of judgements.

Re: paul rhodes already better than danny mac??!!
If CPR wins 7 games against 2010 and 2011's schedule, then you can probably make the argument sooner, otherwise, you need a minimum of 5 years.

Re: paul rhodes already better than danny mac??!!
Remains to be seen. Nobody is a better coach with no games than some other coach who actually has a record.
I heard Iowa was putting a lawyer on staff at the athletic department. Is that true? Maybe it's just a liaison, somebody from the public defender's office?

I, too, have a lot of respect for Mac, however IceCyIce and ISUCy23, I have to take issue just a bit with a couple of your statements.
Walden had to literally build the football program up from the ground up after the Jim Criner era. The NCAA stripped ISU of some scholarships for rules violations and Walden nearly spent his entire career with less scholarship players than other the other Big 8 teams -- and without the support of the administration.
His coaching record was 28-57-3 in seven years, which is pretty comparable to Mac's 11 year record of 56-85-(and a couple of ties).
I think people got a little tired of Walden making excuses. I thought they were valid excuses, but no one likes to hear someone complain about it all the time.
Walden's tough year was 1990 when Blaise Bryant and Chris Pederson were both injured in the Minnesota game and ISU lost 20-16. They didn't play against Iowa the next week, and Iowa State lost 45-35. They did, however, upset No. 16 Oklahoma in Norman later that year with a healthy lineup. ISU finished 4-6-1
Sorry to have derailed the thread a bit.
Rhoads seems to be making all the right moves right now. Let's see how it all pays off.

I remember as a kid, just praying that the Clones would come out swinging against a Big 12 big boy, and just watch the team roll over did. In big games too. Lots of times they did it against inferior opponents as well. Dan only seemed to have them really riled when playing Iowa. For every Iowa game there was an 02 UCONN, an 02 Oklahoma, an 04 A&M, an 05 Baylor, an 06 UNI (didn't deserve the "win"), a any year against Nebraska outside 02/04, and the list goes on....

Re: paul rhodes already better than danny mac??!!
I think CPR himself would laugh at this question even being asked......there's no question DMac is better than PR at this point - what has PR done as a HC?

I'm sure we'll see some of the strengths when we make bisonburgers in a couple of weeks. -

I heard Iowa was putting a lawyer on staff at the athletic department. Is that true? Maybe it's just a liaison, somebody from the public defender's office? They have a job opening on higheredjobs.com, and it sounded like it might fit that description, potentially.
