Re: OL progress?
There's no doubt that ISU has far more known weapons on the offensive side of the ball right now than the defensive side. We add Money, Lenz, Schwartz, Williams and Blankenship and lose Sumrall and Hulbert. That should be a nice talent upgrade right there on a unit that was already pretty talented. Reggie Stephens seems to have all the tools to possibly even be an All-American candidate. I'm looking for big things from this year's offense.
Defensively, we were terrible last year and we lost two of our better players in K. Taylor and M. Bibbs. However, we should be able to offset those losses with the addition of Maggitt, Laing, Taufoou and Sims. As long as Maggitt/Laing can be as effective or more effective than Taylor at putting pressure on the QB, I would expect to see some improvement this year from the defense. But ISU will need to upgrade the talent on the interior of its DL before Wally is able to move this defense into the Top 50.

What I didn't like about the Wally interview was he was saying that we have already given up on some of the things that they were hoping to install in the defense. Basically saying that the current players either didn't get it or where not capable of executing it.

Re: OL progress?
This is the first time I have been excited about the OL since Loney left. Poor decisions on ol coaches (mainly Marty Fine) set us back several years and probably cost mac his job.

Re: OL progress?
I was out of the country for a week and literally have only been able to read snippets of what happened Thursday. (especially with all the non-football chatter in the last 3 days) How did the Oline look? This is my biggest area of hope/concern for team success this year. I have since found out that Hicks is inelgible. Any injuries? Did anyone step-up or dominate?
Did they manage to handle the NDSU dline fairly well, or are we in for a long year? Thanks -

Re: OL progress?
The Oline was serviceable, but I wouldn't say they met my expectations in game 1. Should have controlled the LOS much more than they did IMO.

Did they manage to handle the NDSU dline fairly well, or are we in for a long year? Thanks - I thought they were good at pass protection and OK on run blocking. The run game was quite vanilla, so that may have affected it, but I didn't think the holes were very big for Arnaud and Robinson.
Arnaud was only sacked once, and that was by a safety.

Re: OL progress?
I thought they looked pretty good. AA seemed to have more time then previous years but we'll see how they are once they face a good DL.
