Re: Flashback...Iowa State vs Kansas 2005
I don't know which was worse... this Kansas loss or the loss against Missouri at home for the Big 12 North title?
I will never be able to forget the lob pass play call to the back corner of the endzone into the wind.... which of course ended up 3 yards short and was intercepted by Missouri. We had first and goal from the 2 yd line or something like that for the title and blew it. 4 QB sneaks would have given us the title easily. But we threw the dreaded lob.... arrrrrrrrgggghhhh!!!!
Wins against KU and Missouri might have just turned our program completely around. Instead... we are still just ISU. -

Re: Flashback...Iowa State vs Kansas 2005
The things I take from that game are this. #1, KU selling tickets to that game 2 for the price of 1 since they knew KU fans wouldn't show with it being Thanksgiving break and all. #2. How uninterested in the game the KU fans were that were sitting around me. And #3. The woman who came up to me as I was walking out of the stadium and making that long walk up the hill to that bell tower getting up in my face and saying "Have a nice ride home B***H" A classy move even by Kansas standards...
I hated that weekend more then the Mizzou game for the simple fact that everything went our way, and we blew it. I don't blame coach Mac, or Bret Meyer, or Shaggy, or anyone. I just feel like we blew it collectively. I want revenge on KU probably more then any team in the Big XII, just for the taste in my mouth after that expierence.

Austin,
Your opinion is always welcome. Again, it's respected for you to not pass the buck to the coaches. But I'm not referring to just one or two games - but many in his career as HC. I think Dan is an excellent position coach. I think he could be a very good HC as long as he had very good assistants around him (which could be said of most head coaches).
Good luck to you down there in TX and we hope to see you make a trip or two back up to Ames to enjoy a game or two.

All time record:
ISU: 476 - 556 - 46
KU: 568 - 549 - 58
Bowl Games and Record:
ISU: 9 games; 2 - 7
KU: 12 games; 6 - 6
Head-to-Head:
KU leads 48 - 34 - 6

Can we not turn yet another good thread into this drivel?

Felt so numb after that game. Kept telling everyone "It's gonna happen! It's gonna happen!" -
Re: Flashback...Iowa State vs Kansas 2005
You really can't take positives out of bad losses. I'll never forget the KU Bball team that had one loss and lost to Arizona in the Sweet 16. That team had like 5 guys that played in the NBA for over 10 years, 2 still playing, 1 was last years Finals MVP and they didn't even get to the Elite 8. All you can do is look to the future and hope for brighter things. It looks like you have a coach that can start doing that for you.

I just remember seeing him step toward the play with his mouth wide open. I've come to the conclusion it wasn't words but an ungodly shriek of agony. The sound one might make if you were to be punched in the gut so hard your liver fell out of your mother's ...
Isn't football a great sport! How else can a group of strangers come together and relive such misery. Just think, we'll get to do it again in a few years!
