Should i just start worrying about the 2011 recruting class because as of right now we have 6 recruits headlined by a 2 star QB (and we have Jerome Tiller waiting in-line) and we don't seem to be building any momentum at all. I mean I understand that programs like Texas and Oklahoma are gonna get all the top tier prospects first but teams like Baylor and K-State have at least 10 or more guys that at least look solid.

I Don't know what the deal is. I understand it's hard to come in your first year and pull down recruits but obviously there has been some tough seasons before and they have gotten decent recruits. But so far nothing looks promising and if Ames star Koehler jumps ship to Iowa (who has 11 commitments) or anywhere else, the clones will have missed out on most of the top in-state talent.

Is there any reason to be optimistic???

We actually have 7 with a highly thought of 3 star QB

Oh and a JUCO WR that rivals mods like a lot

It seems like you do know the answer. I am sure the staff is working on 2011, but 2010 will be OK. We have done well with similar guys. Iowa has no chance with Kohler. One reason to be optimistic is look at how Iowa has done against ISU in the past with top in-state prospects. Larson, Felder, Blum, Kanellis, Bentler,....

Why would you be worried about a recruiting class two years down the road?

It's early, but I am also starting to get a little worried... They can't ALL be diamonds in the rough...

After this season we will get some solid recruits. If I'm a recruit I'd first want to win and we have not proven to do that in the recent past. We win some games and the players will come. We have to battle Iowa for the prime recruits in IA. Hopefully we will soon be able stop recruiting on the ability to play right now. That means we don't have adequate starters or depth. That needs to change over time. We'll get there.

ISU, NW, or Stanford imo.

If I were a recruit considering ISU, I wouldn't commit until after at least a few games. Not necessarily because I want to see that they are good, but because I would want to see, in real game situations, what type of offense or defense we are going to run.

I'm not worried about the recruiting class until the day after signing day.

I agree with IceCyIce. There are very good, quality athletes that are waiting to see what kind of football ISU is going to play. I suspect that they have met with the coaches (and probably like what they're saying), but are waiting to see what is going to be put on the field.

WIN'S=More and Better Recruits

Good lord, don't worry so much. We had 5 commitments at this time in 2008 (Chizik's first full recruiting year) and 5 commitments in 2009. While I wish the average star rating of our 2010 class was a bit higher, we've won 9 games in the past three years. Recruits aren't beating down the door to come play for ISU. We're all going to have to be patient, let the coaching staff evaluate players, and find prospects that they can fit into the system.
