Re: Looks like they want us at the Jack early for the first game.
I pay for a great gameday experience. Part of that is the game itself (which is affected by the program, etc),and the other part of that is the tailgating.
Actually you pay to see the game, the rest of the "game day experience" you could get for free.

As long as your freed up ticket gives way for a fan that actually WANTS to be in the stadium, I'm completely fine with that. I mean honestly, do you know how ridiculous it sounds to hear from someone that they tailgate for hours and they cant even get to the stadium 30 minutes before kick because they had to have just one more? Sounds like there oughtta be an AA meeting in the parking lots. I personally go to games because I love football. If you go to games because you love tailgating, more power to you if thats your thing. Heck, maybe try scalping your tickets away, that way you can just tailgate all game long. Put yourself in the right position, you may even be able to hear or even SEE the scoreboard! It would be just like watching the game only better! Why better you ask? Because your combining the game, and your precious tailgating! I'm not claiming to be the worlds best Cyclone fan because I am far from that. I consider myself a supporter more so than a fan. I go to games because I love football and I want to show my support to students who have busted their ***** for most of our entertainment. Now if I'm holier than thou for doing my best to honor these kids for their work. I'll take that title while you enjoy your extra beer and a brat, heck maybe some potato salad or beans if thats your thing.

Re: Looks like they want us at the Jack early for the first game.
People who choose to walk into the game at or after kickoff contribute more to the poor atmosphere than any of Jeff Johnson's forced cheers could.

Seriously though. Drink one less beer. Go into the game 10 to 20 minutes earlier. If everybody did that the experience would be 1,000 times better and it would pay off

I guess I've been stumped for a long time by the emphasis folks have on tailgating. I bought my tickets to go to the game, so that's pretty much what I do. But I'm simple-minded like that.

Re: Looks like they want us at the Jack early for the first game.
The only thing worse than people who show up to the game late is people who leave the game early so they can beat the "traffic".

Re: Looks like they want us at the Jack early for the first game.
It's sobering that we have fans that would argue the importance of getting to your seat before kickoff. I would imagine you'd never in a million years see this on a husker board. I guess wins will help that as they always say but sheesh...you'd think they all have daddy issues or something.
"Nobody tells me what to do!!!!"
It's like, simmer down and think for a second..a full stadium for the start of the game is a very good thing. It's not like getting there late every now and again is the end of the world but at least try your *** off.

Re: Looks like they want us at the Jack early for the first game.
For the record, i'm almost always there by kickoff, usually come in during when the band is on sometime. I tailgate practically right outside the south entrance to the stadium, so its not that hard. I just have something against anyone saying 'if you cant make it in by kickoff, dont bother showing'.
Also, its not about the beer. A lot of times its more about hanging out with the ppl youre tailgating with you may not see during the game or outside of tailgating.

And then after the game, they're just gone, like a fart in the wind.

And I should also say I'd rather have you late than not at all...I'm just trying to carry the flag for the best possible senario that helps the program.

Originally Posted by alarson83 I love 'holier than thou' fans. No kidding. Like I said... when they start paying for my tickets to the games I will start caring about their opinion. If I want to tailgate 6 hours before the game and don't want to give up that last 10 minutes then I am not going to give up that last 10 minutes. It is what it is. Bottom line is that whether you go in the stadium 10 minutes early or 10 minutes late the results on the field aren't going to change. When I hear CPR in a post game press conference say ("We didn't have a good performance today. The stands weren't full when we ran out of the tunnel and it cost us the game.") then I will make sure to get in there extra early. Deal?
