GAME DAY!!!!

Folks, I have to admit... I am deeply saddened today... In my 4.5 years of being a student at Iowa State, this was my favorite day. I wish I was still there and I'm sad because I can't be. I love football tailgating at Iowa State more then ANYTHING ELSE at ISU. We do it right... I envy EVERYONE who gets to go out, set up some flip cup tables, fly a flag, and enjoy a beautiful day of tailgating... Have fun and LET'S GO STATE!!

If I were able to be there, I'd be buying my 30 of natty light right now... Throw some ice on it, maybe head down to the student lots... get in line. God those were the days. Get the flag flying, flip cup in the little corn field in between the vetmed school and the student lot, getting yelled at by the cops and DPS, Chanting "LETS GO STATE" as loud as I can... Lets all agree, LIFE IS GOOD WHEN YOU'RE A CYCLONE ON GAMEDAY!!!

You're making today an even worse day to be in the office 1200 miles from JTS

But it's still gameday, and I'm still a Cyclone, so it's a freak'n GREAT DAY

Gameday begins at 9am when I get out of my first/last class of the day!!

Oh I can feel it now. The smell of brats and burgers on the grill... A cold drink in my hand as I play a round of bags. The sound of the marching band playing in the distance. Somewhere someone is singing the fight song. Soon enough, everyone starts making their way towards Jack Trice, greeted by new gates and concourses, faces light up before we even find our seats. As we walk down those concrete steps, the marching band is on the field finishing up their pregame routine as the cheeerleaders get ready to build on the energy that has already filled the seats of Jack Trice. Before we know it, here come Coach Paul Rhoads leading his troops into battle, ready to face any foe. We sing the national anthem, God Bless America, and the Bells of Iowa State and now we are ready. Mahoney tees it up, kicks it deep, BOOM! The cannon fires, signaling the official start to another college football season. Man I love this game and I love this place!

Ditto. The only advantage of being on west coast on game day is that game time comes around 2 hours sooner

6:30 tonight, I'm sitting my butt on the couch, bud in hand, ready to go. And the Iowa State fight song playing beforehand. Let's do this Cyclones!

JUST before hand? I'm in the habit of playing it every time we score...

I'm thinking I'll have to grab the CD I've got it on so I can have it ready to go on a seperate stereo system in the bedroom instead of having Windows Media Player running in the background

However for the time being that CD is in my car, ready to play the fight song when I get back in it

I'm with you! Other than being close to family (very important to me), I can't live more than an hour from JTS!!! I can't imagine missing any games, I empathize with those Cyclones that live too far away to join us tonight.

Two years ago today (while tailgating), I got offered my current job (in Kansas), which unfortunately means I can't be in Ames today. I'm missing it terribly but will be back for the Iowa game and others this fall. Thanks to all on CF for keeping the excitement going throughout today. I'll be checking in periodically when I get "homesick."
