We aren't that great at WR. I have been saying that for the last 2 years. There is a reason the coaches keep recruiting a lot of WR's.

Our WR didn't get much if any seperation against NDSU, and neither did Iowa's

    What are your thoughts?
I'm sure you thought the same about all of your units vs. UNI. too. Delusional. Iowa should have lost to UNI at home. Reality check. It really happened. The two teams lined up and you saw what happened. It wasn't a dream. You can't discount it. Somebody pinch him.

and IF the UNI kicker could kick a ball higher than 7 feet off the ground you would be 0-1.

Stanzi more accurate than Arnaud? Did you watch the first half of the Iowa v. UNI game? He was getting booed by his own fans because he missed 3-4 wide open deep balls.

The guy can't throw a go route to save his life. Get real. You Hawk fans NEVER cease to amaze me.

I am still waiting to hear an argument for how the game location will actually be advantage Iowa...I wouldn't doubt one of you jokers has an argument for that.

    Re: Iowa vs Iowa State

QB- ISU, Stanzi didn't really impress me last week
RB- Huge advantage ISU, no question
WR- Advantage ISU, again wasn't completely impressed with Iowa's receivers
OL- Depends on who plays, I'm going to give it a slight advantage to Iowa at this point
    DL- Iowa, no question
LB- Closer then some think- but advantage Iowa
DB- ISU, UNI passed all over Iowa's DBs
    P- Even
    K- Probably Iowa
KR/PR- ISU, LJ is on of the top returning KRs in the nation and Simms looked good too
FG- ISU because of the 50 yarder last game

I also think ISU has an advantage in preparation, Iowa has to get used to the spread and no huddle in a week while ISU doesn't have to change that much. (And obviously we get home field advantage)

I think ISU gets it done in a close one, 35-31.

    Re: Iowa vs Iowa State

[QUOTE=clonedude;1229709]QB- ISU slight edge. Arnaud is asked to do a LOT more than Stanzi is. I would say about even

RB- ISU big edge. Right now I'd say there's a decent chance our top 4 RBs would be starting for Iowa.

WR- ISU big edge. Iowa has some young talent, but why couldn't they get open against UNI's all new CBs and safeties? I would say ISU has better crop of WR's but it is def not a big edge.

TE- Iowa slight edge. Moeaki is very good, but Iowa fans don't understand just how good Colin Franklin could be this year. Franklin is pretty good but ISU fans might not realize how good Reisner is, big edge Iowa

OL- even. That might surprise most people, but until Iowa's O-line is all healthy and back... I think ISU's is just as good right now. Iowa's current O-line could not block UNI. No way on this one, Iowa gets Calloway back this weekend and Dace Richardson is finally healthy

DL- big Iowa advantage. Not even close.

LB- big Iowa advantage. Not even close.

DBs- even. Spievey and LJ are equal IMO agree. Sash and Sims are close. ISU is slightly better at the other two spots.

KR/PR- slight ISU edge. LJ and Sims are both very dangerous KRs. Lenz was ok in his first game. Paki doesn't scare me as Iowa's KR. agree, i wish we would put Wegher back there

K- even. Mahoney nailed a 50 yarder in game one.

P- even. Iowa's punter is very, very good. ISU's is too though. I will take Donahue after what he did last season and vs UNI

    Re: Iowa vs Iowa State

QB- I'm giving ISU a big edge. Stanzi can hit a wide open guy and a Tight End but panics under pressure and can't make the tough throw. He has to wind up to throw the out or a deep route, decent safeties will pick that all day.

RB- ISU edge, but not that big.

WR- ISU edge. I think ISU has the best 1-2 and maybe 1-3 if Sed can pick it up, but Iowa has better depth at 4,5,6.

TE- I'm going with Franklin here. This may be a total homer pick, but I love his size and some of the plays I have seen him make in practice are CRAZY good.

OL- We hear alot about Iowa's line and I will give them the advantage here, but I think Iowa State may have one of the most underrated lines out there. Iowa State really doesn't have to lean on their line play like Iowa does though.
DL- I'm really not sold one either. The Iowa line looked TERRIBLE up the middle but then again, so did ours. Iowa gets the slight advantage on the ends, so they get the advantage overall. This is by far the worst units on either team.

LB- big Iowa advantage. BUT they had a really bad game Satuday. If Iowa's LB's overpursue like they did last weekend then Herman will have a field day calling plays...

DBs- I'm going to go a slight ISU lean here, just because of Iowa's depth issues due to injury/suspension. I also think Sims is a future pro.

    KR/PR- Edge Iowa State.

K- ISU, Mahoney has proven more.

    P- even.

    • Those of you saying Arnaud is much better than Stanzi are crazy. I understand the only time some of you might have seen Ricky are against ISU last year, but I assure you Ricky has improved a lot since then. His QB rating was higher last year, and had a more impressive first game this season (16-21 in the 2nd half).
    RB- Iowa State
    WR- Toss Up

    • You can say ISU has depth, well so does Iowa. McNutt, DJK, Stross, Keenan Davis, Paul Chaney Jr. Iowa goes 5 deep at WR, and DJK, McNutt, Davis have just as much, if not more, TALENT than the ISU receivers.
    TE- Iowa

    • Anyone saying this is close is not paying much attention. When Moeaki is healthy, he is one of the top TEs in the country. Reisner is a good enough TE to start at a lot of schools, and makes one of the best 2nd TEs in the country.
    OL- Iowa

    DL-Iowa
    LB- Iowa
    DB- Toss Up

    • Depending how Prater performs when he gets back in 2 weeks, this could go ADV- Iowa. But that will be after the ISU game. Spievey is simply one of the best. However, Greenwood and Castillo leave much to be desired for.
    Special Teams- Toss Up

    • The kicking game is pretty much even, and the return games are too. Maybe a slight edge to Iowa St. You can call the 2 blocked field goals for Iowa a fluke if you want, but the fact is that the Iowa line collapsed UNI's line, and that's why Iowa got the blocks.
    Coaching- Iowa
    Home Field Advantage- ISU

I expect this to be a hell of a game, with one team pulling away with a TD late in the game (kind of like '05). Obviously I think Iowa will win. But most of you are going to say ISU. I say: 24-16 Iowa.
Are you kidding me? 2005 the score was ISU 23-3 over the 8th ranked Hawks. Nothing close about that game. If I remember correctly most of the Iowa fans were gone by the beginning of the 4th qtr.

    Re: Iowa vs Iowa State

QB-Austen does a lot of things better than Stanzi, but Stanzi generally has a pocket to sit it.

RB- ISU edge, I thought Iowa's Robinson looked a little like our starter. Schwartz and Williams beat O'Meara though.

WR- ISU edge. Would be bigger of Darks and Co were completely healthy.

TE- Iowa gets a slight edge, skinnier than most Hawk fans would believe. And I like Moeaki. One thing about Franklin, though, is that Arnaud doesn't have to rely on his TE as Stanzi does Iowa's.

OL- Edge Iowa. ISU's line might be better than I thought, but Iowa's has a lot more experience.

DL- Iowa's line is in more flux than anticipated, but ours was no great shakes. Both need to buckle down--but Iowa's doubtless has more depth and talent.

LB- Big edge Iowa, ISU's at least try hard.

DBs- Edge ISU. Iowa has issues at a corner, and despite a playmaker at safety, ISU's safeties are faster--if Smith is healthy.

    KR/PR- Clear edge Iowa State.

K- ISU, Mahoney looks more consistent that Iowa's duo.

P- I think Brandtner has a slight edge, sespecially in Jack Trice.

    Re: Iowa vs Iowa State

Couple things. ISU fans are saying iowa fans dont understand how close the TE position is. Well you Iowa st fans dont realize how close the WR position is. Iowa is just as talented and just as deep, if not more so. And you also dont realize how good reisner is as a TE. TE is a HUGE advantage for Iowa. Also, not sure how it being a home game gives iowa state's punter an advantage?

You are right. According to this ISU should not play even close to you guys this weekend. Unless you are wrong and then it will go to show that you know absolutely nothing about sports.
