But in short, don't be surprised if he doesn't choose to play football, or at least if that is the second or third reason he chooses a school.
He really doesn't know what he wants to do, but the good thing is that his Dad and him REALLY like our coaches. So James may never come here, but others will.

This is pretty good info on James. I just hope he concentrates on getting his O-line mates to start opening some holes on Friday nights for now.

I'm Batman... or just a friend of the family and I want to keep it that way. Hopefully I didn't give away too much, since it's really a tough decision for James. I'm praying that he finds peace in whatever he decides.

Maybe I misinterpreted what his Dad was telling me. Whatever he does, nothing will surprise me and I believe that you would believe the same.
I was trying to let people know that he doesn't sound close to ANY decision. He is good at, and loves baseball, basketball and football, not to mention he's brilliant. I don't know what talent he has for the college level, he's just a gifted kid that I've had the priviledge of knowing since just a few years old. This is all I have to say about this matter.

Re: Kohler news??
I will throw out my 2 cent observation (no inside info here). I went to the East/Ames game last Friday. My first impression of James was that he had a nice frame to build on, but would not contribute until his redshirt sophomore year at the earliest. He will need focused dedication in hitting the weights and learning technique no matter which side of the ball he ends up playing. I suspect he realizes this and is weighing his odds of playing even if he puts in this work. Reading the other posts, it sounds like if James wants it, he can do it. It is all up to James in what he wants at this point.
On a side note, I thought the East QB might be able to play some DB. He is 6ft and 200lbs if I remember correctly. He seemed to have decent speed. Playing QB now gives him some leadership skills and an understanding of how defenses are played. I don't know anything else about him other than what I saw on the field.

Why would he need to "redo" his ACT? I know that my ACT would have gotten me into any college in the country, and his is even higher than mine was.
Plus, Ivy schools don't do athletic schollies.

Plus, Ivy schools don't do athletic schollies. But they throw some much academic aid at you it's almost the equivalent.

It is a tough decision, but one he is really blessed to have to face because all of the options are very good ones. It is kind of like looking at teh dessert buffet. I am not sure ANYTHING is definite at thsi point. I am not sure he is D1 type talent in baseball, but he is darn good. Originally Posted by stateofmind Good for you T Man. Maybe I misinterpreted what his Dad was telling me. Re: Kohler news??
I heard he is going to quit football and get into the family business and open a Happy Joes North to compete with their North side rival Valentino's

Re: Kohler news??
Is he a real good pitcher? Or a big 1B?
Just wandering what he does on the baseball field, since you don't see many big OL (or even tall 240 lbers like Kohler) who have a legit shot at making it in baseball. Must be a really good athlete for his size to play baseball too.
