Why do sons play where dad coaches?

If I was a coach, I would never want my son to play where I coach.
If I was a kid, I would never want to go play for dad.
Yet, it happens everywhere. And it is potentially disastrous.

I assume this thread is in reference to Cody Hawkins, who plays for his dad, who sucks.

You must have a issues with your father. Some people think family is very important.

Probably my biggest dream in life is to coach my kids in something. I don't know why you wouldn't want that.

I'd have to know more about Colorado's #2 qb to make a good judgement on them. Cody may be their best option. If he's not, then continuing to play him will destroy the team. I have no problem with kids playing for their dads, as long as they are treated the same as everyone else. Coach's kids do seem to have an advantage from a lifetime of learning the game.

According to an article ChrisMWilliams linked earlier this week, Colorado has no other quality QB. May have no other choice at this point...

I coached my son in basketball for two years. I was tougher on him than the rest of the team. He was one of the two best players on the team. When it was announced after the second year that I would not be returning many of the parents and students attempted to talk me into coming back.
My son and I were always very close. I cannot say that coaching the team caused any conflict between us.

I've been watching my neighbor run his 8 year-old through all sorts of football drills. Kind of sad, the kid always walks with his head down and never gets to do anything a normal 8 year-old does. My buddy coaches little league and played against my neighbor and his kid, the kid missed the tag at the plate that would have won them the game, and that ****** had him in tears. He is setting his boy up to fail at everything.
