biggest worry about this week?
What is your biggest question mark this week?
Offense or Defense

Re: biggest worry about this week?
I'll preface this by saying I'm no expert.
My biggest concern is that coach Herman do a better job of practicing what he preaches. He said his offense is designed to take what the defense gives (as Fry used to say, scratch where it itches). Well, Iowa decided coming in that they were going to drop their lineackers and give up the rush in order to prevent the throws downfield. However, Arnaud kept trying to throw downfield, and we got burned repeatedly.
That said, I'm feeling very good about next week - as good as I could feel when we go on the road. I think our guys will be extremely focused. There's no doubt the effort will be there. I just hope the execution is there as well.

It's always a battle and extremely stressful game to watch against any MAC team, especially on TV. It's going to be a battle.

Re: biggest worry about this week?
Front 7 on defense. We have to find a way to start getting pressure on quarterbacks or we're going to get thrown all over the place on the rest of the season, not to mention how much we're already giving up on the ground.

If the running game is working, as it was yesterday, Herman needs to take some pressure of AA by running more and making the LBs come up and defend the rush. If he won't do that, it will get real ugly.

Also, Kent State managed only 178 yards in total offense yesterday agaisnt BC.

Re: biggest worry about this week?
I want to know why people are blaming this on Herman?!?! Do you think he told Arnaud where to throw the ball?
This is my opinion.....Herman wants AA to get rid of the ball quickly and take what the defense gives him. Problem is that AA doesn't know the offense yet, so he is getting rid of the ball quickly but he is not reading the defense when he is doing so. He already has his mind made up where he is going to throw it.
Also Herman can't help Arnaud throw a 2 yard bubble screen to a WR's chest

My biggest worry is that we'll be on the road. Would love to get that monkey off our back!

Re: biggest worry about this week?
Please know that I'm not blaming Herman. He wasn't the one throwing into double and triple coverage. However, if someone as amature as me can recognize what Iowa was doing on defense, I can't help but wonder why our own coaches up in the press box didn't call more running plays (including QB draws) to keep their linebackers honest.
Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled we have Herman running the offense.

How high my blood pressure will be during the game.

Look at the stats...per play, ISU's running game outgained the passing game by 2 yds/play.

I was yelling the first 3 quarters for them to run the ball more. I would have liked to see us run on the 3rd and 2 plays.
I am talking more about the INT's. Hard to blame his game plan on that. We had underneath routes and Arnaud didn't take them or even look at them
