Re: Darks, Reynolds, Johnson
Darks injury has been bothering him since spring. Sed's was an ankle in week 1. Money was swarmed over pretty bad against Iowa(trying to do to much)...Time will help. Don't give up on any of them.

I am not giving up.... just analyzing..... I see LOTS of up side and potential here, call it a critique if you will

Yeah, he laid an egg the Iowa game but it's not like the other two games he's been awful, all of it is not simply on him for "not hitting his guys in stride". There's a lot to be said for 1. getting open (injury or not) and 2. running the right routes precisely. Regardless of the physical tools that SJ or Darks have this offense requires receivers to make proper reads on the D's coverage and run good routes to get open in space. Has there been a ton of times that AA has just not thrown to either DD or SJ while they're wide open on a route under 10 yards?

I bet Arnaud would throw it to any of these guys if they got open -
Re: Darks, Reynolds, Johnson
Seems to me Austin has thrown many balls into double and triple coverage. He has the ability, just needs to get more comfortable with the offense and relax.
I know, sounds easy doesn't? NOT

Re: Darks, Reynolds, Johnson
I thought that Sed was going to be our best WR this season. Guess not. IMO he may be kind of a thouroughbred...really good when he's 100% healthy, but some injuries and he's worthless. The team REALLY needs Darks and Johnson back at full strength.
I do like that Herman is going to the running game more. IMO he was getting a little too cute in the first two games.

I guess I was HOPING he would be a good receiver, but unfortunately did nothing last year for me to think he would be that great this year. Although hes way too young to be giving up on, I just thought he would have done more by now.

Good grief--a little juvenile, aren't we? Did you read my post? "I don't get to see much ISU FB...only saw the Iowa debacle...but clearly a receiver has to have a QB that can get the ball to him and more importantly get it to him in a spot where he can do something with it afterwards. From what I saw it seems we don't have much accuracy at the QB position."
My statement is crystal clear...based upon what I saw vs. Iowa his accuracy is lacking.
Nothing in my post was "extremely negative"...unless the simple fact that he lacked accuracy vs. Iowa can be construed as negative...however, it was a simple fact.
I'm curious what your requirement for "judging" a player is? See every snap in person? At any rate, I was simply making an observation.
On last thing, based upon what I saw, we should pass less and run more...including having the QB running the ball a lot.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -
Re: Darks, Reynolds, Johnson
Dink & dunk- correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that was Herman's mantra along with "take what the defense gives you." To this point ARob has been tearing it up. I've never seen a fan base so upset about a productive ground game. No need to waste downs throwing Hail Marys. We'll take the 5 yard passes and off tackle runs if the safeties are gonna play deep all day.

Honestly...I think it was AA throwing the ball in the wrong place (way behind the receiver).

Re: Darks, Reynolds, Johnson
Maybe the nicknames have gotten to the WR's heads. I guess until one or more of them have 100 yards in a game their just maybe average at best. It hurts but some posters way over hype some players in to All-Americans when they just aren’t. Compare the stats to other pass teams and see where some of them are. -

I think the problem is that people around here are expecting insta Rice/Mizzou/Kansas no-huddle spread attack. We FINALLY have a staff that is not playing "square peg round hole"...*shudder*, and somehow people are upset about it.
Yes Austen has got to be more accurate. We all know he's got the arm strength to bomb it down field, but what's the point if he can't hit a guy in stride 7 yards away from him? He will get there as he gets more comfortable in this system. Herman has talked about how excitable the kid is, and we all saw that in the Iowa game. The crowd got him jacked up to an extreme and he couldn't settle himself down.
The success in the run game is going to accerelate this transition as defenses will have to key in on ARob and allow Austen those short routes, THEN it's up to the recievers to take it downfield. We'll get there

AA threw the ball and the receiver wasn't even looking back or had broken off his route yet to turn around. I wouldn't put every single one of those on AA, considering he's the one who is shouting out the calls, and he should know the plays better than anyone. From what I saw and heard from the receivers and Herman, the receiving corps certainly shares the blame.
