Well, "not allowed" is a tough line to take, but I agree that parents need to do better. On the other hand -- maybe each kid does something like that 1 time in 3 games, but there are soooo many kids . . ?
These kids don't say thank you, or excuse me, or I'm sorry.
From later posts -- these are older kids -- and I agree. Almost enough to find their parents . . .
I take my kids to the games and I don't let them act like that. They stay with me. I'm sorry but it is also a dangerous thing for these kids to be running around by themselves.
Well, a parent can be pretty far away and still be close enough to monitor. I wasn't there, though . . .
My son has been hit with a football, I have been slammed into twice while holding my one year old, and it is not because the it is crowded.
From your later post -- older kids and no courtesy I agree with.

My other issue is the people who spit, . . . Disgusting!
I have to laugh just a little -- because spit is worse than animal dung or bird poop? It's an outdoor hillside.
and throw their trash all over the hillside. . .
Littering is one of my big pet peeves. I *try* to be charitable -- as once in a while I will accidentally litter -- but clearly some people don't care (though at least you must admit it could be MUCH worse).
May my postings be polite and not misunderstood. (And hopefully funny on occasion.)

That is disgusting and pretty much has clinched me not buying hillside tickets ever. I think they are cool and unique to the stadium, and not a bad idea. I think one of the real problems you describe is that people in general are not very polite or respectful and teach their kids to be the same way.

Re: My thoughts on the hillside

I got hillside tickets last game...and then went and sat in the student section. Both are things that I have never done before. Student section way up high was much more tame than I expected. At one point, I yelled something and three or four people turned around as if to say, "we dont yell up here. mostly because we are too far away to make a difference."

Its called season tickets.....buy them or take the hillside for what it is.......a grass playground for parents who didnt pay for a baby sitter.

Hillside & Lil Cyclone Club = lots of kids = lots of future Cyclone fans

Those kids wouldn't be there if it weren't for the cheap hillside tickets or LCC pass.

That said, parents need to do a better job keeping their kids under control. I think it's great they want to play catch on the hillside. But, a game of tackle football is not okay.

Re: My thoughts on the hillside

Whenever I bring someone to JTS who's never been here before i usually point out the hillsides 1st....as a place for adults to watch the game while the kids play and run around.

Its what makes our stadium unique . Ive sat hillside once in my life(OU/2007) and was pretty low on the hill so i didnt encounter any kids running around anywhere near me. Also the hill was pretty jam-packed that day.

Its gonna happen somewhere on the hillside that kids are going to be a pain in ***. You just need to move to a different part of the hill, or a different corner all together. There really is no policy for kids running around on the hills. perhaps they should encourage kids to play further away from the bottom corners, but i doubt there'll ever be a policy in place.

Of course im not above yelling at other peoples kids, so i might not have any problems with em.
