PTI: Yankee Bowl mention.
Today on PTI they were talking about the Yankee Bowl and how it starts next year. Wilbon said something along the lines of "Rutgers vs. Iowa State..." You wouldn't go see that? They stated that its like the 4th best Big East team against the 7th best Big XII team. Thought that was really cool to get a mention on ESPN but ofcourse Kornhole wasn't a big fan of the idea. Just wondered what everyone's thoughts were about the mention of ISU possibly being in the inaugural Yankee Bowl and getting mentioned on PTI about being the 7th best Big XII team next year! If we made it to a bowl like that, how many people would actually go? I think I would try my best!

Only problem is, hotel prices could get a bit steep.

And more importantly, where are we going to tailgate at Yankee ******* Stadium?

Yup, people that plan to be in New York around New Year's Eve would have made reservations a lot sooner than late November / early December.

That and knowing that ******* Steinbrenner would make tickets $500 for nosebleeds!!!
Re: PTI: Yankee Bowl mention.
hmm...lets see:
- ****** (horrible) site lines as the field will run from homeplate to centerfield.
- no warmer than 40 degrees, but probably colder, plus wet
- previous conditions lead to horrible football
- prices in NY including the actual game tickets - but it's around the holidays when NY hotels are ridiculous from travelers
- Yankee Stadium is up where you won't want to be staying for any extra days
- as already noted, there's no tailgating - find a bar in the area and plant yourself
What's not to love about this game?! If anything it should be a combination of Big East/Big 10/ACC for regional attraction.

Whats Stienbrenner going to do when/if cyclone fans rush the field taking clumps of grass ala Insight Bowl.
Re: PTI: Yankee Bowl mention.
Except IMO if we just somehow did follow that prediction I would really try to go because I believe going up against Rutgers would be a great matchup!!!
Re: PTI: Yankee Bowl mention.
I think that will be a bad location of ISU fans and Big 12 fans in general for the above mentioned reasons. I also think that the only thing that will keep the Yankee bowl going for more than a few years is the Yankee's millions.

I owuld want to beat Rutgers just because my Calc 1 teacher was a Rutgers fan. Hated that class.
Re: PTI: Yankee Bowl mention.
NY as a destination ranks above alot of the other bowl sites despite the game being outdoors (Toronto, Boise, Shreveport, Detroit, etc).

I would also like to beat Rutgers because now is the time to face them now that practically all of their offensive weapons are gone. i.e. Teel, Rice, Britt etc.

I've got people in Brooklyn so I'd stay for free, drink for cheap and as far as the weather and tailgating;
Sack up
Recognize that this would be an opportunity to educate New Yorkers on how to tailgate, consider it our cultural gift to them.
At this point in the Rhoads era we should be traveling to whatever bowl will take us.
