Re: Arrowhead
Looking ahead to next year, if the following occur,
- economy is still dragging,
-KSU puts this game in their season ticket package
-we struggle the rest of the year
It might not be as far off as it still being like an an away game as we would like to admit.
Yes we will get the funding, and those traveling will have a good time, but if KSU puts a lot more in than us, there will be even more grumbling.
So do not count it as giving up an away game yet. Perhaps, but it may be we have only gave up an home game and a partial away game..
Also, wonder if they will switch for the home team to have power and light district and us out somewhere else. That would really kill the enthusiasm for this event.
Just Sunday morning pondering.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

Read it as a response to his post about KSU making it part of the season ticket package.

Re: Arrowhead
I'm not a Chiefs fan so I had only ever been to Arrowhead for a concert and that was 8 years ago. I loved the stadium.
As far as stadium seats go they were really comfortable.
Everyone around us was great! Our 14 month old daughter was a big hit with the crowd as usual. They put her up on the screen a few times before the game started. Once the camera man stood right in front of us, and she started acting like a ham for the camera.
Parking was a little high but by NFL stadium standards it was well priced. The got us in and parked fast and we did not arrive until 11am. Then in getting out we got to the car and about 5:15 and we were out of the lots and on I70 but 5:30.
It was nice to only travel 15 minutes home for a change too. Everyone was going west, and north so there was no traffic for those of us going east.
I thought the crowd looked pretty even. I was actually surprised not to see more soldiers from Fort Riley there. Riley is really close to Manhattan, and when I used to have friends stationed there, it seemed like all of Charley company went to the games on Saturday.
I can't wait until next year! I had a great day with my family, and since I can't change the outcome of the game, I am very happy with just that.

Re: Arrowhead
I had a great time at the game. Getting in and out of the parking lot was quick and easy. Parking is a little pricey though. I sat in the lower level and the concessions and bathrooms were great. I believe they are still working on the upper level, so that should be ready to go for next season.
The power and light district was fantastic. I would imagine we will be back there next year even as the road team. I think for the KU MU game they may both do something down there. A lot of the bball teams do to, so hopefully we can keep that.
And as always, I was impressed by the stadium itself. The sound system was great and the ribbon board was cool. And for a game with only 40k people, with only half cheering at any given time, my ears were still ringing a little after the game was over. And that never happens at JTS. It really served as a reminder to me of how much the design of JTS limits our home field advantage.
Looking forward to the game next year. However, after this game and the FSU game back in 02, I'm starting to wonder if we have an Arrowhead curse. Was that missed PAT in the same endzone that Seneca was ruled out of bounds in?

Re: Arrowhead
I had a great time no doubt. Kc is a fun town. What was the deal with the porta potties though? Very few, and half were locked until 1230. Aside from games end that was the only downer for me.

Re: Arrowhead
What is this "us being in the Power and Light District" that everyone keeps referencing? Was there an official spirit rally or something there? Though I haven't seen the district, I would imagine it's plenty large for two teams to have rallies there, if that's the issue.

(yes, there was an official rally there) No way you could have both teams rallies there.

Re: Arrowhead
How'd it compare to the Florida State game down there if you went to both?

Re: Arrowhead
I believe that stadium is cursed ..our last two games in that stadium have taken years off my life and I would rather not have a heart attack at 23 -
Re: Arrowhead
I'd say the event was a colossal flop for the Iowa State athletic department. I know there is the money aspect but the negative media and reaction by neutral observers was massive. I know everyone had a pretty good time there, I know I did. Unless either ISU or KSU are very, very good next season I don't see any more than 40,000 people at the game. In fact I'd be willing to bet there will be in the low 30,000's for the game.
I hate to be negative about this because I was excited about Iowa State's opportunity to play in Arrowhead again, but this was bad.

If I was a neutral fan and sat in on that game, I would have been very pleased with that game. It was one of the greatest finishes to a game this weekend. If anything, that will attract people again next year.

Re: Arrowhead
I liked the whole thing except I didn't like paying $7.75 for each beer at the Alumni thing. I'll remember not to go back to that next year.

Since they saw one hell of a game, we can likely count on 6 for next year. I bet Arrowhead officials are salivating. -
Re: Arrowhead
25 min wait at the P-lot Jons because 5 of 8 were always locked???
Game plan was force to be - get a beer walk to the Jon then rinse and repeat.
