And actually, yes - there are coaches that do this. Our previous QB coach did, which is why Meyer gave up far fewer sacks in '07 than he did in '06. It looks clear to me the current staff has instructed AA to do the same.
I think in time, they'll coach this differently - but now it's clear the staff is not at all about to put the offense in jeopardy of giving up sacks.
Again, be critical of AA all you want for his inaccuracy issues, but not for him taking off with the ball.

Re: A few positives
I actually like it when AA runs the ball. I hope he carries it 15 times a game, because I don't trust him much throwing it.

Seriously though some stats can be a little misleading. Our O-Line has been great but I think you can argue that us leading the nation in sacks allowed is more to Arnaud and how much he is tucking and running to this point.
Not being negative just realistic
Agree here. He is costing us huge.

I don't mind it most of the time to be honest. Especially when we need to pick up 4 yards for a first and he knows he can get it.
It just seems he has no confidence in his arm and thus is running every chance he gets. Like I said previously I bet there are 8 times this year when he has taken off running when he probably could have stood in the pocket another 3 seconds

Re: A few positives
Again, go at the coaches on this one.
Now if you want to discuss his confidence to make plays with his arm, I'd agree. I think the early lackluster start against NDSU and then getting shredded against Iowa is still in his head. He's over thinking and does not want to make mistakes.
In the quicker 2-minute offense he does well, because he's just out there playing and isn't over thinking his actions.

Those throws he made at the end of the game were poor and he got away with them. Hamilton made a great catch but the ball had no business being thrown his way. Same goes for Williams. WR's bailed him out on his last 2 throws

Re: A few positives
Hamilton is a tall, big body. Why not throw it up high, to a place only the receiver can get to and let Hamilton go get it?
The TD throw was a risky one, no doubt.

The TD throw was a risky one, no doubt. He should. I just don't think he meant to throw it there and I think the CB misplayed it as it looked like an obvious pick when he threw the ball
