New feeling about today's game
Woke up with a worse feeling about today's game. I feel today will be the low point of the season and we get handled 44-13.
The good news is I think we recover from this beating to win 3 more games and finish 6-6 starting with Baylor the following week.

Re: New feeling about today's game
I've actually felt pretty good about this game for awhile. I don't know if we have the ability to win. but I don't see a 44-13 beating. We'll see.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -

I dont have the best feeling about the game either. I dont think we will get completely man-handled but then again I wouldnt be suprised if we did.

Re: New feeling about today's game
Arnaud needs to make a few plays and our running game has to be there, with or without a-rob. I'm hoping the defense will hold stiff for the first half and not make it easy, if the offense doesn't hold up though the D can only take so much. Of course without a pass rush, it could be a long day from the start.

Re: New feeling about today's game
I think differently. I sincerely hope that we can keep it respectable because if we do not shake off the effects of last week's blocked PAT, we will get blown out today and make it very improbable that we win three more games this year due to lack of confidence and lack of a winner's attitude.
We need to learn how to win even when we lose. By that I do not mean that I support moral victories rather I mean that if we can look at a loss, determine what went wrong, and be able to fix; it we become winners. On the other hand, if we look at the reasons we lost and conclude that they got lucky, we don't have a winner's attitude.

I have just the opposite feeling. I'm not saying we'll win, although I won't be shocked if it happens. What I am saying is that win or lose, KU will be glad to see us leave town when it's over.
Our guys are angry about last week's KSU game, and they're angry about last year's KU game. They will come out today and punch KU in the mouth from the very beginning and they'll keep punching until the final play.
KU on the other hand has been idle for two weeks and they clearly don't perceive ISU as any threat at all - you can even sense this in Mangino's comments. And if the coach isn't worried, his players won't be the least bit worried.
So from a pychological stand point, ISU has a huge advantage today. Even so, it will be tough to beat KU on their home field. But stranger things have happened.

If it is this cold, it can't help A-rob at all. cold weather is terrible for pulled groins

Of course without a pass rush, it could be a long day from the start. I thin we have a good chance to cover because we WILL run the ball. IMO, there are few teams with a quality offensive line loike we have. Those guys are good. We can run the ball. We can cover 16 pts. If we could just throw the ball, we could compete with these guys.

Re: New feeling about today's game
Going to be a tough one. We need to score some points and do well in time of possession.... there offense is way too good for us to go 3 and out much and still have a chance to win.
Would love to see a couple big turnovers caused by our defense and special teams! Kansas is beatable, but we need to play our best football and get a break or two.

Re: New feeling about today's game
44-13 is a stretch to me, but I guess we will see if our offense can score 2 TDs against a good D.
I dont think KU will hit 44 either.

Re: New feeling about today's game
I don't think we'll get blown out... UNLESS we commit a bunch of turnovers like we did against Iowa. We just haven't played like a team that gets blown out. Our defense has kept us in games, and as long as our offense doesn't turn it over 6 times... we will keep it somewhat close IMO.
I'm encouraged somewhat by the fact that KU doesn't manhandle anyone. They are a finesse team. I don't think they will just run it down our throats like some power teams might be able to do to our front four.
With that being said, I hope Burnham blitzes Reesing a ton early on. We need to keep him uncomfortable back there. If we rush 3, like we did on occassion last week, Reesing will pick us apart, just like the KSU QB did when we did that. Nothing works better than pressuring the opposing QB.... nothing.
On offense, obviously I hope we have a healthy ARob, but if not, I still think Schwartz can get it done. With 3-4 more carries last week, Schwartz would have went over 100 yds. We don't want to get into a track meet with KU. Pound it on the ground with ARob/Schwartz and Arnaud until they stop us. Keep the clock running. And then when their defense is finally sucked up to the line of scrimmage to stop the run, then start picking them apart with the passing game, but don't resort to the passing game too early IMO. I still honestly believe our offensive line is most effective at being road graders for the running game. Let them be physical and dominate like they can with their size. Why not?

If Wally blitzes, we better have 3 guys on Meier. I'm having flashbacks of him running free up the seam the entire 2nd Half....
