You're obviously not from the state of Iowa. Otherwise you'd never suggest something so dumb.

If the goal is getting to bowl games, may I suggest you join the crowd of idiots talking about moving to the MAC I am not saying that I am 100% behind taking Iowa off the schedule. But, at the same time, I wouldn't be completely opposed. As I stated above, I think the main reason you leave them on the schedule is economic. And I can understand that. But there are plenty of solid opponents that could be scheduled that are good "tests" for the Clones entering conference play. Plus, home and aways against some of those schools might actually help recruiting. How about Houston? How about SMU? Maybe South Florida? Schools in Florida or Texas that Iowa State tries and needs to recruit.

I do agree that we should try to get rid of Utah and UConn though. We don't have to be concerned with strength of schedule... we won't be competing for a national title any time soon. Play 3 cupcakes and Iowa every single year IMO.
Ask Virginia Tech if it helps to schedule teams like Alabama in your non-conference games? It doesn't pay in the current system. Florida plays cupcakes every year in the non conference and it doesn't hurt their ranking whatsoever. The system stinks, but you have to deal with the system you have. Cupcake wins are WAY more valuable than losses to really good teams.

If it is that rough of a game maybe it should come after the Conference schedule instead of before the Conference schedule. Not saying it is a rough game, but I actually would like it if it came later in the year. It comes too early.

we need to keep iowa on the schedule and start kicking their arse in football and in wrestling.that will help us recruitinG in iowa and in neighboring states. we need to kick the feather butt butts in wrestling so that we can regain our prestige in wrestling.
kicking iowa's butt will gets us recruits like dawson,wegner(sp.)etc.
there is no excuse for not getting the kid from harlan or not getting sherrf(sp.). kick the beakfaces azz and let the games begin.BEAT THE SQUAWKS IN FOOTBALL AND IN WRESTLING.DAN GABLE IS A FAIRY TAIL.SO ISN'T CAEL SANDERSON.BRING THEM BOTH ON.IOWA AND PENN STATE AND KICK

Additionally, we have a better chance of beating Iowa than just about any time because Iowa doesn't run the spread, which we can't stop to save our lives. No, Snyder developed a top ten program by beating the biggies in the conference. If all he did was beat the cupcakes, K-State never would have been ranked, much less in the top ten.
It's important to remember that when Snyder first took over, he emphasized that K-State must become THE program in the state; the one that Kansas high school players wanted to play for. He did that by beating KU.
Moral of the story: for ISU to get better, we must get our share of the top talent in the state. We can ONLY do that by playing, and beating, Iowa.

Iowa is a big win but bue we will start to get the recruits when we consistantly win in the Big 12 and play in bowls on a regular basis. It would be nice to play for a big 12 north championship and a nice bowl at least every 4 years. This you can use in recruiting the better athletes.

Re: We need to remove Iowa from schedule
Iowa will never be removed from the schedule. Way too much money generated from this rivalry.

Re: We need to remove Iowa from schedule
How do you expect to get better? If you play cupcakes the first four games, you set yourself up for a big shock once you enter conference play. Why in the hell would you want to take Iowa off the schedule? they are a team that we can beat and they are a reasonably high profile team, especially this year. I think you can can a lot more recruits by competing and losing to good teams rather than crushing bad teams. Bedsides that, your out of conference game don't decide your conference standing. Kansas State built a program by beating the whole conference not some joke team the second game of the season. I would be irate if they took this game off the schedule. It is a big deal in Iowa and I think most people enjoy the rivalry.

Besides the complete unreadability of your post, you have no idea what you're talking about.

So playing them and beating them occasionally doesn't do much. If the goal is to make a bowl game as often as possible, you might as well schedule 4 non-conference patsies to help in that regard. Not like Iowa State is ever going to be in a position where strength of schedule makes any difference. That's the problem with ISU - We think small. Think big. I think we should withdraw from the Big XII, become an independent and schedule 12 cupcakes.

Yeah, lets just call ourselves the Hawkeyes and change our colors to black and gold. Much easier than calling ourselves Cougars or Bulls. Plus with names like Houston and South Florida you really probably need to be located in Houston and South Florida - whereas we're already in Iowa.
Lets just stick to being ISU.
However, having her as a fan might be a plus.
