I think it will be hard to improve (a little, let alone a lot) on defense, no matter how hard CPR and Co work. To add to the OP's thought, this year also represented an eaiser schedule in terms of reaching a bowl.
Along these lines is why I hated seeing us give up a home game this year.

Have we reported these lost people to the police? FBI?

It could be an interesting episode of Without a Trace.

He's getting jumped on because no one knows what he is talking about. Usually opinions are debated on here but when no one knows what he is talking about, how can it be argued with? Who knows, maybe I'll agree with him.

It is clear the OP was saying that there are a lot of seniors on this team, and I agree with his concerns. One good thing I see is that there are a lot of reserves getting playing time, so at least they will have some feel for the speed of the game.

It seems like the guys that never made it to campus in the last three recruiting classes were all DL or LB, so there are not a bunch of guys waiting in the wings either. Look for at least a couple JUCO LB and DL in this years class.

It looks like the schedule for the next two years is going to be much tougher, so it would be nice to get to a bowl this year.

Agree that we are losing a lot of experience on defense and it does concern me. I've said many times this season we need to bring in a few guys for '10 that can help us immediately.

Offensively, we don't lose a lot of guys at all. Hamilton will leave a bit hole but we need these younger receivers to step up.

I don't see how next year impacts needing to make a bowl this season. Obviously you play each game to win and try to make a bowl every year...not just those prior to when the going gets tougher.

I got it too. I learned last week if you don't spell your posts and thread titles out so any 2nd grader can understand your gonna get a few pages of people who simply can't understand.

I didn't think it was clear at all...but that's beside the point. Thanks for clearing it up. I thought at first that he was talking about the fan base. Which I think is ridiculous.

As far as the Senior class leaving, I don't know how I feel about it. Experience doesn't necessary make us a better team. As long as we replace them with good talent, I'm not so concerned. I'll leave that up to the recruiting gurus to tell me if we are gonna do that or not.

Maybe he means we are losing Soylent Green with each loss.

Here's what I think. I think we are losing a TON of experience on the defensive side. On the flip side I think we are gaining a lot of physical talent. I don't know if they will improve or even balance out but for the time being I am going to believe the young guys will be coached up to a point where we can put a respectable defense out.

But the only seniors we're losing are McCarney recruits.

I thought Chizik upgraded our talent level. :jimlad: Chizik's guys will still be here and will be coming back with experience next year.
