Assuming you're at least 28, do you remember the starters on your HS FB Team? I don't. Youth and HS sports is only good for the kids for participation and if they've good a good valued coach. Otherwise, don't bother.

I'm not 28, and right now I don't remember everyone who started. It doesn't really matter to me. My point is that some people will hold onto their 8-2 season their senior year when they should have won state and I cannot stand it. I can understand and sometimes do enjoy going back and talking about events with people that were also involved but it doesn't define who I am like it does some. I just have a hard time with people who can't get over their high school life.

I agree. Watching my son in football this year has brought this to the forefront of my attention. It certainly is teaching him to play through a lot. You can have a good play or bad play, but either way, you've got about 30 seconds to get over it, and the next one could be the opposite. He also had more than a few times where he got dinged up (one in particular where he smashed his hand on a helmet), and although he was shaking his hand and looking at the sideline, as soon as the ball was snapped, he was in there mixing it up again, and pretty soon forgot all about it.

He also learned that he was stronger than he thought. He's a pretty mild mannered kid, and seemed to see other kids as stronger than him, but as nose guard and center, he was mixing it up with the biggest kids on the other team and seemed surprised to come out on top more often than not. The coaches (and I) also told him that his position was a leader of the line, and towards the end of the season, he was straightening out the splits, yelling to get everyone in the huddle or up on the line, and did become a leader out there on the field. It was really cool to see the change that he underwent.
