doesn't it seem like he's LB bound?

Re: NEW COMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's big for a safety (if he stays a safety) small for a LB. If he's an athlete - they'll find a place for him to play.

That may be a biased opinion though because I LOVE big safeties and I don't have a problem with small linebackers. In the end, I don't really care where he plays as long as he does it well and doesn't cost us quality somewhere else.

Re: NEW COMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was hoping for & expecting some of these after all the positives I read about Saturday's visitors. Great news & welcome to the Cyclone family!

After a year he is probably at least 220 and with a 6'2 frame (don't know how bulky his frame is) I would say he could eventually be in the 240 range. We will see but 220 is big enough for me at the college level, especially when we will be playing spread teams that require speed to defend.

But yeah, we recruit in-state, have two in-state commits and a couple more offers out. Only so many Iowa players to go around and Iowa gets some too.

Guys who pack on too much muscle mass, don't maintain their speed.
Don't get me wrong - if he can/ does that's fine, but I'm not betting he passes 215/ 220. IMO 220 is a small college LB. But, just to clarify, I don't believe guys have to fit into a specific size window per a position. skills determine the position. My initial comment was just an observation.

Re: NEW COMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are quite a few starting LB's in the SEC right now that are 225 or so. Like at Florida Bama and especially Ole Miss, they dont have anyone in their 2 deep over 230.
Alvin Bowen played just fine for us at about 220 or so. I think its more about technique, strength and speed. If you can play... it doesnt matter how big you are.
