100% a personal foul....the ejection was ridiculous.

Re: James Smith suspended for Texas A&M game
By far and away the worst call I've seen in a football game in my 22 years and 11 months on this planet.

Re: Ejection rule
It doesn't say anything in there about reducing the punishment....
He won't get to play against A&M. It was a stupid play on his part, but should NOT have ended with him being ejected.

Re: Ejection rule
What if the review shows that personal foul was called that shouldn't have been?

Re: James Smith suspended for Texas A&M game
Confirmed one half from CPR via the Rag:
Safety James Smith was ejected for throwing a punch (and connecting) early in the third quarter – and according to coach Paul Rhoads:
“By rule, he has to sit out the first half of the next game.”

I hope he doesn't get put in the doghouse. Personally, I like to see the intensity sometimes.

Emotions were running high and we will see him next week vs A&M.
If Benton is out, who takes his place?

Re: James Smith suspended for Texas A&M game
O'Connell took his place and played great!
Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town' -
Re: James Smith suspended for Texas A&M game
I admit I may have not have seen all of it but by what I saw on TV it was a marginal penalty at best and a complete joke of an ejection. If that was the standard there would be numerouse ejections every game. My only guess is that he was warned a few times during the game and he rubbed the officials the wrong way. Again, based only on the replay that I saw, horrible call.

And one would think that a senior should know better.
