I know I am getting WAY, WAY, WAY ahead of myself (probably need a couple more 'WAYS'), but....

Could ISU get to the Big 12 title game, beat Texas, and give Iowa a ticket to the national title game?

The thought of that makes my head spin.........

I would much, much, much rather get to a better bowl game than Auburn is capable of--and regard our "last coach" as irrelevant and inconsequential.

Iowa and Iowa State in a BCS game in the same year?

That would be beyond shocking. It's not out of the realm of possibility. If Iowa State is going to win the North they must win next week. I think 5-3 in league play will do it, though. Especially since Mizzou and Colorado are non-factors. We'll also have a tie-breaker over Nebraska, which is lovely.

A real scenario would be meeting Auburn in the Independence Bowl. I would be ecstatic about that!

I don't want to get that far ahead, but in 2004 and 2005 we had to have everything fall just right to get to the championship game both years, and it did...too bad we couldn't close the deal.

If we go 5-3 in conference, that is a successful season any way you slice it. Even now it is a successful season, but I really want to go to a bowl game :).

I agree, we'll need to go 3-1 over our last 4 games to have a shot at winning the North. KSU is 3-1 and ahead of us (2-2) right now, so we have to catch and surpass them. A tie with them does us no good since they have the tiebreaker.

To go 3-1 over our last four games would mean winning at least once more on the road or beating OSU at home.

Pretty far fetched, IMO, but it is fun to sit here at the end of October and say that every game matters.

Holy crap we beat Nebraska.

If we are +8 in turnovers every game the rest of the year, then yes.
