If he can retain his current staff and keep picking up the kind of recruits we are right now, we are going to win a lot of football games.
Everything just feels right with PR, his staff and philosophy towards building ISU into a consistent winner.
I've learned to not get my hopes up too much, but it's hard with CPR as our coach.
CPR's first press conference.... "We'll be a passionate football team that will bring pride back to the Cyclone nation."
Sounds about right!
Ever since CPR gave an interview this summer where he talked about walking beans and bailing hay growing up, I knew he would be successful. I just didn't think it would be this soon.
I know this is from the Chizik era, but this always gives me goosebumps.
"I am a cyclone. I am a warrior, a member of a team. I am physically and mentally tough. I never quit."
I'm worried about his assistance jumping ship (I remember we had a few do that earlier in the yr). We need consistency to improve yr on yr.
In terms of restoring pride to the Cyclone nation, is it fair to say that he's pulled that off already?
Seriously, tell me that Cyclones won't be beating their chests all week after that one.
Erik you need to lose those credits and spend all week trying to get donations from the rest of us, so we'll be victorious next week too!
I've always thought CPR was a great hire -- and not just because I'm from Ankeny! Besides his obvious knowledge of the game, and how respected he is in the coaching ranks, and that he brought in great assistants -- what puts him over the top is his passion for ISU. Plus a basic all around great guy.
What's great about this year is that aside from EIU, they've been in every game, and they're getting better week to week. This has to be coaching, Chizik's teams never adjusted and never got better.
I love Coach Rhoads. I love a quote he had once about being a head coach. It went something like:
'' I'm going to take all of the coaching philosophies I've seen and put them together to create my own to become a consistent head coach" I have no idea why I thought this quote was so cool...but his philosophy sticks here and I love it.
