so ISU could dump players like Smith to the curb.
I have been a very harsh critic. Jesse turned in an outstanding performance. I am looking forward to him making me look like a fool for the rest of the season.
Intresting stats, Jesse smith has 87 tackles, 2 picks, 2.5 tackles for a loss and no sacks.
All-American prospect Pat Angerer has 77 tackles, 2 picks, 2 tackles for losses and 1 sack.
I am not trying to say he projects as well as Angerer, but those are darn impressive stats for a former walk-on.
Can anyone think of a walk-on in any sport at ISU who has had this big of an impact on a team?
Hornacek. Otherwise, I can't think of one off the top of my head...I'm sure there are others...
He's Superman!
Lane Danielsen was a walkon who, when he graduated, was ISU's leading reciever.
Threads like this drive me crazy.
It's JS this week and next week it is another player being apologized to for saying very harsh statments about. Here is a thought, what about supporting the team and give the coaches some credit for playing the best player in their opinion, NOT, your opinion. You can't time heart or leadership with a stopwatch...

But I see the point you're trying to make
I was very harsh on Smith (as harsh as I get anyway) when he was playing 2 years ago and also last year. I have no doubt he was the best player that we had at the position. He wasn't ready to play when he first started. Not his fault either. His game has improved immensely the last 2 years.
I was about to post a similar thread last week and never got around to it. After Saturday's performance, I had to.
Here's to Jesse playing on Sunday next year!!!
and thanks to coach Burnham for getting these guys to play. You have proved to all of cyclonenation that our defense would continue to improve.
I have followed Jesse since he played at s.e.polk I learned long ago never under estimate this kid. I have seen him constantly get better since he was a jounior. I told my wife back then watch this guy. I could not be happier for this guy. keep it up Jesse and thank you for being a Cyclone.
