That and they forced most, not all, but most of those with that same effort.

And for making some of those balls pop out. A lot of credit should go to the coaching staff for the emphasis on tackling technique. Both of Helu's fumbles were good hits right on the ball, just like you're supposed to do. I agree there was a lot of luck yesterday but the defense did a great job forcing some of that luck. Hats off to the coaching staff, those were things we hadn't seen the last couple of years.

I shook Wally's hand at the team greet last night and told him what a tremendous job that he had done. All of the team and Coach looked shocked and awed when they came into the practice building and saw all of the people there to greet them!
The band had hurriedly assembled and was there. Funny to see the band in street clothes! Cy showed up and all of the cheerleaders were there in their uniforms.

Part of it is luck, but if you're well prepared, luck goes your way.
Re: defense did not quit!
ISU was outmanned on both sides of the ball (especially on defense) but the defense didn't give up on any plays and that is why they won. Still we're not going to be able to force 8 turnovers every game. Help is very much needed on the defensive line or next season. We will lose our two best players on the front seven (Lyle and Smith). Let's hope the DL and LB recruits like what they're seeing.
