Interesting Grant Mahoney Stat
According to Big 12 Conference - Official Athletic Site, Grant Mahoney is the first kicker in Iowa State history to make three field goals of 50 + yards in a season.
What an up and down season for this young man.

Re: Interesting Grant Mahoney Stat
Maybe he should start kicking the extra points from 50 yards.

Re: Interesting Grant Mahoney Stat
Maybe he should just kick the long field goals, and use another kicker for extra points and chip shots. Just an idea.

The thing is those blocked kicks yesterday were the result of back up linemen trying to block the best player in college football.
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection. -

Re: Interesting Grant Mahoney Stat
Can our deep-snapper chuck it 30 yards backwards to the holder in that scenario? or would it take long backwards laterals? -
Re: Interesting Grant Mahoney Stat
I think we need some better blocking on our kick attempts rather than a different kicker.

Re: Interesting Grant Mahoney Stat
Mahoney is not missing kicks, he is having his kicks blocked. There is a big difference. Snap, hold, angle, trajectory have all been fine. He need the interior line to Block and not give ground.
Unless you guys expect him to kick curve balls around the rushing defensive lines hands...

I think Mahoney will be OK. The blocked XP are one thing but the ones he misses without the defense getting any kind of push or hand on the ball are all on him. He just needs to not second guess himself and go out there and kick like we know he can. Think of every kick like you are still 100% on the year.

Re: Interesting Grant Mahoney Stat
we need to snap it deeper on extra points so he can get it up in the air so it will not be blocked.
