Re: Be Honest
I admit that I thought the blocked xtra pt was gonna come back to haunt us and we'd lose on a last 2nd FG...but it's amazing how this team battled and confident they were. We need to make beating Nebraska, maybe not the norm, but know we can compete and let's beat them there again to 2 years, it'd be nice to not go 16 tries in Lincoln before beating them.
Oh, I also scared people after the win screaming at the top of my lungs. I know as a Cyclone I get emotional about my team, but inside I'd like for these wins to come more expected, even if it means less celebration. I loved seeing grown Cyclone fans cry for joy and Huskers cry in pain...it was just a priceless day I won't forget for awhile.

Re: Be Honest
this why i love being an iowa state fan. a win like this feels absolutely incredible. if i was a texas or oklahoma fan, it would have been just another win. when you root for a team with iowa state's history, the big wins feel 100 times better. also, i had some one three apartments down from me bang on my door and ask if everything was okay i was yelling so loud. go state!

Re: Be Honest
No lie, thought we had a good chance of crapping down our legs. I kept mumbling... "if we don't get a td we're gonna lose... we need a td... we need to get some pts off a turnover..."

My screaming woke him up... I apologized to him, whispered "go state" and he was back asleep in less than 30 seconds. It was a good day.

I told her that 9 points wouldn't be enough as soon as we had 9 points.

Re: Be Honest
Everyone would have to be nervous, but to be honest, I absolutely thought that we would find a way to get another turnover and win this thing. Nebraska couldn't stop turning it over, we could stop taking it, and we absolutely were not going to quit.

On the Nebraska sidelines and in the stands - on the field, there was that anxious look. They were ALL expecting something bad to happen. The Nebraska culture has changed. They no longer confidently expect someone to make a play. They are all thinking, oh no, not again - what now? Jack Whitver is right. They have lost their Mojo.

I'm so proud of the team - they found a way to win. I don't care if people say we're lucky. Remember the old saying" Fortis Fortuna Juvat - Fortune Favors the Brave !" Before the punt, my wife said "we're going to get this blocked". I said confidently, "he's one of the best punters in the nation and has never had a kick blocked before!". Then I remembered that Mahoney had never missed an xp before KSU and immediately felt nauseous.

I was still nervous 10 minutes after the game was over. :)

Re: Be Honest
Heard a fan yell Go Clones as we exited - that was a special yell in Lincoln stadium. The NE fans just rundled away in disbelief. 8-0 in turnover margin was a record for them. ISU had a game in 1972 where we had 8 takewaways but we also lost the ball. There was only one other game in sixties where Lincoln had 8 turnovers, so now ISU has 2 of the 3 eight turnover games. I enjoyed hearing "ISU" chants over my television. For some reason, we were more enthused at the end of the game.
