Re: Be Honest
When the fuskers got the ball back I just kept saying to myself please get a turnover please please because it happened all day long. Some thoughts went through my head of what could happen. Then the interception I had goose bumps I was at the inlaws by gladbrook went outside raised my fist and just walked around the acerage for 15 to 20 minutes just saying yes yes yes!!!! hearing my wife screaming in enjoyment. Calling every Cyclone fan I knew loving the moment!!!

Re: Be Honest
Even when we were in the victory formation knelling the ball I was still not comfortable.

Re: Be Honest
...just watch... The Big XII will find someone from ISU that was ineligible and played, and we'll have to forfeit the game later on this year. (That's how we'll lose this game) -
Re: Be Honest
I actually felt like we were going to win after the second to last interception. That was the point when I said, "Holy &8%^, we're going to pull this out."
You could tell we were in their quaterback's head plus they were going to have to air it out to drive down the field.
We also seemed to be in a little better shape than them in the 4th quarter. Our Offense had the big, clock killing drive and our D was stopping them for the most part. I think our conditioning nullified their athleticism late in the game.

Re: Be Honest
The wife and I agreed to watch the last few minutes in fast forward (I like watching games on DVR delay to skip the commercials) because we couldn't take it if another letdown occured.

Re: Be Honest
Where's that guy who told his kid to find another team to root for after the Kansas or KState loss?

Re: Be Honest
I know it was crazy when my wife screams so loud that she wakes up my 1 year old from a nap upstairs after Jesse Smith's last interception. I dont think I sat down in my own living room the whole 2nd half!

Re: Be Honest
I was nervous on every play. It was obvious that 9 points may be all we score, so to be up by only 2 meant Neb was one play away from breaking my heart. After every turnover I was staring at the game clock, thinking there must be some mistake because it wasn't moving nearly fast enough.
Our D stepped up, forced turnovers, bent but didn't break. Couldn't be prouder. They played like they new how much it meant to Cyclone Nation.
Had Arob been in, even with Tiller, I think we pull away and win by 10-14.
I am also very glad that some Frosh are stepping up and becoming impact players of '09, not just waiting their turn.
Very good game.

Re: Be Honest
Been witnessing the Clones pee down their legs against the Hucksters for more than 30 years ... WAY too many tight games going into the 4th, only to get blown out. Their superior depth always seemed to be the differentiator. Glad to see us play 4 FULL quarters. Thank you, CPR and staff. It's great to be a Cyclone!

Re: Be Honest
I saw in my head, the headline "ISU Looses Despite 7 Nebraska Turnovers". Then the 8th happened and i went into shock.

Re: Be Honest
Until the announcer called the game I was in disbelief. My wife will barely sit by me and my kids used to leave the room while play was going on. We would just find ways to blow a game. McCarney was the king of this. I couldnt think of how we might lose it but I got such a kick out of Jesse Smith pointing for Oconnel to get down and then when Smith got the INT he dropped like a rock. What a game. Still not sure I can believe it.

Re: Be Honest
I was pacing most of the second half... I could just see the headlines "Iowa State Loses Another Heartbreaker" or "Effort Comes Short", I texted every Nebraska fan I knew on the last interception, hahahaha

Re: Be Honest
I did... only scoring 9 pts and giving them the ball with time...I thought we where done for.

Re: Be Honest
Did anyone else get as big a kick out of an announcer as I did when after James Smith picked up the fumble all they do was talk about Sed Johnson made a big play, Johnson and Johnson what a combination, That Sed Johnson came up big. Hell, they even got a shot of Johnson on the sidelines after the play. That sequence was priceless!
Sorry to hijack the thread but it just came to me.

That's what it was like for me, and I'm usually the guy screaming like crazy at the TV. The whole scenario of that game was just so weird it was hard to comprehend. When Jesse picked off that pass, I just started laughing with relief and excitement; we were actually going to win! Unbelievable...
