Question on one of the fumbles?
On the fumble that O'Connell recovered near the goal line and started running to the right as it was blown dead? How many defenders were between him and a TD? Couldn't tell on TV, but it didn't look like anyone was back so it would have been a race to the endzone.

I'm not sure but I would have guessed a receiver could have caught him. But who knows how far he could have made it? Taking it to mid-field would have been huge.

I think he would have been gone, he's pretty fast and most of the players were just standing around.

Re: Question on one of the fumbles?
He had a ton of green in front of him, certainly would have been a big return.
I think the refs made a decent call on the field, really tough to see exactly when that ball came out. Good job of overturning it, as it was the right call.

That's why I wish refs would just not blow the whistle if they can't see and don't know what happened. Especially with the benefit of replay they can always overturn the play later. For the most part I thought they did a really good job of it in this game though.

Re: Question on one of the fumbles?
It had to have been blown dead at some point after the fumble, which is very good, but yeah, it would have been nice to see where he could have gotten with that. -
Re: Question on one of the fumbles?
At least one nebbie guy had an angle on him and probably would have slowed him down around midfield to allow someone to catch him from behind.
I don't think he would have made it, but definitely would have gotten to around midfield.

I always thought that due to the opportunity to review the play that they were not supposed to blow the play dead but to let the play be completed and then obviously go back and review it. Hypothetically a poor call there could have cost ISU the game had Nebraska found a way to kick a game winning fg. Luckily they didn't but it is interesting how that situation played out.

Re: Question on one of the fumbles?
he would have been gone - he had blockers and no one was in front of him.

Re: Question on one of the fumbles?
It looked like only linemen were even chasing, with 2 blockers.
