He was behind the LOS and it was the first forward pass, so it's perfectly legal.

Nice play, but it is like the Tebow basketball pass, it was a great play the first time, now that everyone has seen it, not necessary.

No matter what the situation was, this was stupid. If you're blowing the other team out, 1. Why would you go for 2? And 2. Don't be throwing a behind the back pass to try to rub it in!. If you're down by a bunch, why not try to make it as close as possible? And if it's a close game, why risk it?!
