Some leadership props for Arnaud

Don't know how much has been said about this... I haven't been able to wade through all the posts and threads since Saturday. Sorry if we're rehashing, but who cares......

I think there needs to be a shout out at the leader that we got in Austen Arnaud.

Kid couldn't play on Saturday - that had to be eating him alive. And for those who saw the game - you had notice #4 being the first guy on the field, jumping up and down, slapping guys on the back (if not jumping all over them). How, with his enthusiasm and "on the field presence", we didn't get some sort of sideline warning - is anyone's guess ;o)

Obviously - he could've been sulking on the bench about his misfortune. Clearly that's not him.

Also - check out the post game "I'm so proud" video. (I can't get to YouTube from work, if someone would relink....) I think some have mis-stated his yelling out to CPR that "we love you". Rather - he calls out his defense for a spectacular effort.

That's leadership!

Yeah, he was shouting defense....we love you. Then they started the d-what de-fense chant. Pretty cool.

Homegrown Cyclone who really gets what it means to be a Cyclone.

Now if only HB could follow in his footsteps.......

I had to listen to the game on the radio and John and Eric mentioned that Austin was the first one out there to talk to Tiller all the time and was so excited when we scored.

That speaks a lot to Austin's character because it would be awfully easy to feel sorry for yourself with your backup leading the team to victory.

Yup. We probably had to do less actual recruiting work to land him than any other player in ISU history. He wanted to play for the Cyclones from the day he was born, and IT SHOWS.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Son of Landshark on the ISU staff someday.

I've forgotten about PB.

But now that he's been brought back into the fray, and knowing now what we do about Chiz-less and the way he departed Ames (and the final "talk" with the team).....

I'm perfectly willing to give PB a bit of a pass. His midseason departure was a bit gutless. But I'm not going to stand here a say that there might not have been reasons.

Great leadership from him the entire season. He's made mistakes but has been owning up to them, getting better and supporting his team in any way he can. And then giving credit to the defense is always a good thing.

I think it's plausible that when you look at the timing of the Bates departure, it was partly (or mostly) due to the staff going into the Baylor game with an injured Arnaud and playing him anyway - instead of giving the ball to Bates. I still think Bates did the "wrong" thing (at least by doing it midseason), but he could be quite frustrated over the staff not playing him when the guy in front of him was clearly hurt.

Hands down, our emotional leader. Tiller played a virtual mistake free game, but I think we all know who are starting QB is. We are obviously a better and more dangerous team with AA under center. I think Tiller has a higher ceiling, but right now AA is our man.

i think PB played a huge part in the game. his best friend from high school (niles paul) just kinda "drops" the ball as he is ready to trot in for 6. you dont think PB had something to do with that? jk serisously though, wonder what he was thinking when he saw that play.

He quit before Baylor right? I thought that was when I remember Tiller warming up and the worry about wasting the RS. If I am correct then he still has no excuse to quit. AA may have been starting but he would have played. Now, I could be wrong on the timing and if that's the case, then well, my whole point sucks.

That's my point. The week of the Baylor game, Bates quit.
