Simms Interception on The Volleyball Play
Just reviewing the game and I noticed Simms interception in the 2Q - the volleyball pass that got batted around.
No question it was an interception, but did it look to you that Simm's knee was down when he caught the volley? He ran the ball out to the 16, instead of being down on the 1
I know the play was under review, and the refs did the right thing in not overturning the play because there was no refutable evidence, but just wondering how everybody else saw the play?

Knee was a good 2" above the turf. Good call.

His knee was down, but it was back up by the time he had control of the ball.

I've seen photos of it and his knee wasn't down, it was close, but you could still see plenty of light under it.

Not complaining, but we got screwed over when OConnell picked up that fumble. Play should have never been blown dead.

I thought if a play was blown dead, it couldn't be reviewed. Can someone clear that up for me?

As the others said, they were reviewing if he was down, not if it was an interception: they concluded there wasn't enough evidence to overturn the ruling that he was back up by the time he had control

The only reason it got overturned is that it was immediately picked up by and ISU player. If two guys had been diving for it and there was a pileup, they couldn't have overturned it.
As for O'Connell, it looked like smooth sailing for the TD, but had the whistle not blown, who knows how many Nebby players would have chased him.
