Tim Jackson Article
Tim Jackson plus 8 | Home Team | Tampabay.com
Thought I would put up an article I found today from the St. Pete Times about Tim Jackson announcing his top 8 schools....Iowa State being one of them (remember, Jarvis West is his teammate).
He's also a good student....seeing he had a high SAT score lessens any concerns about not qualifying academically; which, as an educator in FL, I can verify that the system is atrocious, to say the least!
For what it's worth - He's a three-star on Rivals....there are plenty of legit DI prospects in the Tampa Bay area & it makes me happy to see local studs who aren't 'good enough' to play at UF/FSU/MIAMI given STATE some serious consideration; in my opinion, many of these guys are plenty fast, extremely athletic & more than ready to prove they are just as good as the hyped 4 & 5 star prospects.
Give me a good student/athlete with a strong work ethic and a bit of a chip on his shoulder & a coaching staff to properly prepare & motivate said recruit & the rest will work itself out! GO STATE!!

I like Jacksons makeup. In an old Scout article he said some good thing about Wally and that he could be ISU's George Selvie. That would be killer!

WE NEED HIM!!
Well we need any DEs we can get.

Re: Tim Jackson Article
Also, Jarvis West said in an article somewhere that he was going to talk up ISU to Jackson and try to get him to come to ISU with him. I like the sound of that.

Re: Tim Jackson Article
Mike Douglas is another one down here, very similar to T. Jackson - height, weight, speed, '3-star,' etc. - which could be another great option....for now!
One of the huge coups CPR pulled off was getting Burnham as our DC. He's been in the Tampa/St. Pete area (hotbed for DI talent) for a decade....you think he doesn't already have relationships w/coaches down here? On top of that, he is a hell of a coach!

The number and quality of Douglas' offers makes me think we can't get him. We would love to have him though.

Re: Tim Jackson Article
i do not know if the star system means much. cpr got a defensive tackle commit from a 6-4 260 lb kid from ankeny that has no stars in the scout or rivals system. i am happy to see the espn site has the jensen boy in the top 100 rankings for defensive linemen. i think he is in the top 60 or or top 75 defensive line men.maybe coach paul rhoads is a better evaluator of talent than either the rivals or scout system.we will know in a couple of years.

I completely agree with your thoughts on the star system - i.e. the use of the quotation marks around '3-star.'
Look at what so many 'lesser programs' (TCU, Boise,Fresno, even Iowa) are able to do w/low or no star guys. Thus far w/very little to base it on except for the results on the field, I trust how CPR & staff evaluate & motivate players.

I don't think Jensen has been evaluated by Rivals at this point. Not sure though.

Scout and Rivals continually update their ratings. Since jensen only had ne schooly offer, I am guessing he was not evaluated by either site. That said I doubt he will be much more than a 2 star. I do like his motor.
