When Pigs Fly, ISU helps Iowa to BCS.....
I know the following scenario is whacky and waaaay out in left field to say the least, and I'm just begging for ridicule, but could this happen and would you be able to live with it if it did?:
1. Iowa wins out!
>
> 2. Iowa State wins all remaining games, everything else falls into
> place for them in the North and ISU wins the Big 12 Northern Division!
>
> 3. Either Alabama or Florida loses to the other SEC team and the
> remaining team ends the season undefeated ranked Number 1 in the BCS.
>
> 4. Iowa is ranked Number 3 in the BCS behind Texas and Sec Champ.
>
> 5. Iowa State plays Texas for the Big 12 Championship, Texas plays
> a Nebraska like game, commits countless turnovers and loses to Iowa
> State! (Yeah, that could happen)!
>
> 6. Iowa is ranked Number 2 in the BCS ratings behind the SEC
> Champ, and plays for the National Championship thanks to the
> Cyclones!

Let me put it like this.
In 2002, iowa went to a BCS game on the heels of a 1 loss season. I have a dad and 2 brothers and numerous friends who are all ravenous hawk fans. I grew up a hawk fan until I stepped foot on campus in Ames. My wife went to iowa.
I was genuinely happy for iowa and was all set to watch the Orange Bowl and pull for iowa against a hated USC squad.
Then the cameras panned the crowd, and there it was....
"Hey Clones, this ain't Boise!"
Biggest game in 20 years for iowa, and some ****** takes that effort to put dowqn ISU. Was happy as a clam that the Trojans took iowa to the woodshed that night.
I have no issues with iowa doing well in this scenario. I have designs to send my father out to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl - presuming (most assuredly) iowa makes it.
Summary - my contentment is all contingient on how easy it is to deal with the iowa fan base.

Hey those fans were just mad that we kept them from going to the NC that year. Iowa's only loss in 2002: ISU 36 Iowa 31. Hawk fans will be hawk fans. Some are classy and others....well you get the point.
Re: When Pigs Fly, ISU helps Iowa to BCS.....
Iowa State is already helping Iowa with every win, at least in the computer polls.

I was thinking the same thing, although a Big 12 championship would more than make up for the fact that we helped them.
Re: When Pigs Fly, ISU helps Iowa to BCS.....
I remember that exact sign, and we are the ones obsessed.

I also saw that. And that right there ended the last time I even attempted to cheer for the hawks. When you see things like that in a BCS game its just inexcuseable. And the bad part is the dbag hawk fans seem to be the majority, while the good ones are too few and far between. I really wish that thier fanbase would shift so that i could cheer for them without dreading all thier bs the next day but until that happens, I will just passively cheer for any of thier opponents.
Re: When Pigs Fly, ISU helps Iowa to BCS.....
With that scenario, the funny thing is, we would have a better chance of winning our BCS game.

Very true. Oregon will curb stomp Iowa is that's the match up and I expect it will be. Really, the best scenerio for Iowa is if one of the SEC teams loses, but then beats the other in the SEC Champ. while Texas loses. That leaves the slim possibility that Boise, TCU, or Cinci fall into the NC and Iowa may actually have some sort of chance. If Iowa somehow some way manages to win the NC, I will throw up.

Really, 2002 was just like this year, #1 and #2 were both undefeated and if Iowa would have been they still don't jump either Miami, Fla or Ohio St that year, so this year (if Iowa goes 12-0) could be just like 2002 (if Iowa would have been 12-0) and Iowa would be the odd man out.
Re: When Pigs Fly, ISU helps Iowa to BCS.....
I remember seeing that sign too and thinking...'oooh, bad karma'. The rest is history.

Oregon will curb stomp Iowa because they beat an overrated USC team at home? The same USC team that needed a TD with less than a minute left to beat OSU from the lowly Big Ten. Also the same Oregon team that survived a scare from Purdue. What else has Oregon done this year for you to think they would stomp Iowa?
So either the Big Ten isn't that bad and USC is really good that got beat by a great Oregon team or Oregon is a good team that beat an average USC team, which one is it?
Re: When Pigs Fly, ISU helps Iowa to BCS.....
the sad thing is that all iowa fans think they are the number one team in the country and should be playing for the NC, i have people tell me at work that if ISU can make it to the Big 12 championship game they would be rooting for ISU, my bet is that if they would lose they would just bad mouth us even more.
I was an iowa fan growing up and i too converted to ISU fan when i went to college at ISU (could have went to Iowa but want a good engineering degree). And I really do see it now how arrogant Iowa fans are. The one good thing about ISU fans is that most of them went to the college and got a degree from there, most Iowa fans have not even stepped on the campus other than for football games. ISU has true fans, Iowa has a bunch of wannabees! and I am sad to say that most of my family is that way but they are starting to convert!!!
Let just do our part and win the big 12 north and not worry about what Iowa wants us to do!!

You might want to edit your post, I don't think Iowa is the #1 team as well as a lot of my friends, so you can't really say all Iowa fans now can you?
