Against the BCS teams we have played this year, we got smoked by OSU, aTm, and Iowa. We lost close to a KU team that has turned out to be a lot less than we thought they were at the time, and we lost close to a KSU team that hadn't quite got it rolling yet. We beat Baylor without their starting QB and got a break with Nebby. We just don't have the talent yet to compete at this level.
We have improved from last year, but we aren't there yet. At this point I expect us to lose out, and I am okay with that. I still think the program is moving in the right direction. As a fan though, I still hope the team proves me wrong.
I don't know about next week, or the last game at Mizzu, but there are reasons for what we are seeing.
People seem to forget how little talent there actually was in this program when Mac was shown the door. Add the fact that we are on our second staff since then, and the shift that has occurred in recruiting as a result, and we are still a ways away from being competitive.
I look for things that I can see as improvements, and that is enough right now. I am skeptical about Herman, but I am still not sure whether it's the partly the schemes, or if it's entirely the talent.
All I know is that AA had a much easier time last year than this year, but he spent two years in that offense, so we will see what happens next year.
I just hope that the recruiting includes a lot of linemen.
I'm not ready to give up on this season yet. ISU has two shots to get a win, I still like our chances... of course, we have to play much better than we did against OSU and A&M.
Dude, there is a big difference between Okie State and Colorado.
Hell, just based on the fact that they are in the Big 12 North, means that probably any team in FBS football has a chance of beating them.
I think Paul will get this win and maybe beat Mizzou in our last game.
How did Colorado beat A&M? That scares me...
Man I love a good post game meltdown. Look, we have 2 winable games left to get 1 win. Can we do it? Yes. Will we do it? Maybe. Heck, we might win them both...or lose them both. Either way, I projected a 4 win season so no matter what I am really happy with this season (I don't think anyone that really knew anything about football projected us to actually make a bowl game).
We had a few bumps in the road but that is no reason to jump off the bandwagon that soooooo many jumped on. Just chill. I will bet that Rhoads gets 1 of these last 2 to go to a lower bowl....and I love him for it!!!!
OSU was the best team we've faced this year. Their line dominated us on both sides of the ball. I think it's good that Arnaud was able to play today, as I think it will help him get back in synch for the stretch drive. ARob also looked healthier than he's been in a while too.
We certainly can't pencil anything in as automatic, but I think these kids will bounce back nicely, and get at least one of the last two, if not both.
Question: is this the same Colorado team, coached by that Dan Hawkins guy, who people on the board, from Chris Williams on down, have been mocking and predicting his firing all season long?
And now we're running away from saying we can beat him, at JTS no less?
We will beat Colorado. and we will play Missouri tough as rain.
We've sucked sometimes this season, they've sucked sometimes this season, but someone has to win
I think they can still beat Colorado. All depends on Arnaud's hand, him getting back into the flow a little, and if ARob can get a little stronger. Colorado has not won on the road yet this year, and neither has A&M, so who knows?
This is also the difference between the North and South divisions. The South is built with speed, and the North (at least Iowa State) is not. Like they say, you can't teach speed, you have to recruit it. Hopefully next week will be a different story.
I was surprised at the Colorado/A&M game. Had it on the TV while watching the ISU game on ESPN360. A&M seemed in control most of the game, then kind of broke down near the end of the 3rd and into the 4th. Good game.
